The shocking video of New Jersey High School Wrestler, Andrew Johnson having his dreadlocks cut after a white referee refused to let him compete with a helmet has caused outrage and accused the ref of being a Racist..and now it's been proven that he IS a RACIST!!

Andrew was shown subjected to an impromptu hair cut right before the match at Buena Regional High School as it was to either cut or forfeit and he chose the haircut and won by a sudden victory in OT

Alan Maloney made the Baloney call and he had a previous racist argument with another ref.

Under the National Fed of State High School Associations, natural hair that is non-abrasive is allowed but must be contained in a legal hair cover.

In March 25, 2016, Maloney attended a work gathering for officials where he called a fellow african american ref a "n-word".

The 2 got into a beef over homemade wine when he made that comment and claims he doesn't remember saying it but accepted eye witness accounts as to what happened..

He said "You know people do make mistakes and i apologized, i really don't think this should go any further than it's gone anyhow. The remark was not made to him. After he told me what i said, it was pertaining ot us breaking each other's stones. i didn't remember it, i was told it." He agreed to go to sensitivity training and alcohol awareness after that.

Maloney has now been BANNED for overseeing contests while a probe is conducted as the embattled ref claims he was merely "enforcing" the rule for hair maintenance.

As multiple people have pointed out, the states rules allow a hair covering to be worn, and the guy had competed throughout this entire year. This ass pulled a power play and refused to allow that, even though he technically didn't have that authority. And other coaches and wrestlers have chimed in talking about guys with longer hair, or girls having long hair, and not being subjected to this.

Ive met SO many racist people who arent racist per-say, but have stupidly high standards for black/Hispanic/PoC people. Like, all it takes is for one of them to do ONE thing wrong (or at least be perceived to do one thing wrong) for the racist to go wild.

Meanwhile those same people shrug their shoulders when their (white) friends date 15 year old girls, or literally call Muslim immigrants Sand N-words on Facebook.

This was clearly a racist attack, and anyone who says otherwise is very clearly just as biased as those racist white people I know.

Turns out you can do both. He was already in competition under these rules and wanted to win under those rules, he gas every right to do so. Now he's won, he's in a comfortable position to challenge the rules without having sacrificed his win.

My brother coaches wrestling. He said it's technically the correct ruling because the hairnet needs to be attached to the headgear, which this wasn't. He also said this rule is almost never enforced, because that's a specialized piece of equipment that you basically have to order online to get. His final verdict was that this ref is a dick.

Typically as long as the hair is covered by a net they let it go, especially in poor areas

Yeah, I wrestled in high school, and it was basically this exactly. His hair would've technically been against the rules, but 90%+ of refs would let it slide because it's unlikely to affect anything. But if you run into a ref who wants to be a hardass, you've gotta cede -- it happened to me and a couple of my teammates, after being fine for many meets before (though I don't think any of us had as much hair as Andrew... but we didn't have any kind of hairnet, either).

Also, it's definitely BS that they made him do it when he went on the mat. The refs are supposed to check that shit at weigh-ins.

Oversight on the ref part to not take care of it sooner or intent to humiliate the kid in front of the crowd? That being said, are refs allowed to change their minds if they don't catch something during the weigh-in?
