I'd be pretty wary of this campaign. The last crowdfunding campaign aimed at Trumpeters turned out to be a scam where a black teenager took advantage of a bunch of MAGA idiots by pretending she was gonna BLEXIT, just to take the cash and laugh at their stupid asses.

The fundraising page doesnt mention Kolfages most recent business venture, a Facebook page titled Right Wing News and a ring of affiliate sites that frequently trafficked in conspiracy theories. In October, Right Wing News was pulled down by Facebook in a sweep of more than 559 pages that the company said were using fake accounts to drive traffic to their websites or were ad farms using Facebook to mislead people into thinking that they were forums for legitimate political debate.

Days after the pulldown, Kolfage created a group called Fight4FreeSpeech, which accepts donations, and is also not referenced in the GoFundMe.

Kolfage also ran Right Wing News shuttered affiliate sites including VeteranAF and FreedomDaily, which pushed false conspiracy theories, like ones claiming Hillary Clinton was secretly hiding deadly illnesses and fake voter fraud stories days before the 2016 election.

Those sites stopped operating in March, replaced with a string of text that said This Website Has Gone Out of Business.

The shuttering of Kolfages sites came a month after Michigan man Joel Vangheluwe sued FreedomDaily and other right wing sites for misidentifying him as the driver of the car that plowed into a group of peaceful protestors at a 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The FreedomDaily article relied on the image board 4chan as its major source, according to a letter provided to the court by the contributor named in the suit. Kolfage was not listed as a defendant.

The sites often trafficked in false, inflammatory and racist content, including headlines like Obnoxious Black People Lose Their Minds When Victoria Secret Models Say This 1 Word On Live Video and Trump Just Released Embarrassing Vids Of Obamas Muslim Friends That He Never Wanted Seen.

GoFundMe isn't like Kickstarter, where the default is that you set a goal and if it's not funded then no one pays. Since GoFundMe is set up more like charity, you get to pocket the money even if you don't raise all of it (this makes sense from their typical usage, since often times the "goal" is a nebulous thing and just helping out with bills, doing something nice, etc. don't have strict budgets).

The organizer can choose to return the funds and it's set up so that refunding your backers isn't hard, but he would have to choose to do so. Right now, he's claiming that if he doesn't get the money he'll refund all of it. My guess is that he's not going to outright scam people, but instead of returning the money he'll probably donate it to something dumb

Which is against GFM's rules.

The reality is that no matter how the right-wing shitbrains will try to spin it, it's in GFM's best interest to cancel this and return everyone's money. They're better off getting yelled at by the idiots on Fox News than they are leaving this up knowing this guy's history.

Kolfage was on Laura Ingrahams program on Fox in October of this year, after he claimed a news page he ran on Facebook, Right Wing News, was taken down by the social media company. The story was picked up by Fox & Friends as well. In his Ingraham appearance, Kolfage noted he had raised over $600,000 for Justice Kavanaugh with John Hawkins, who founded Right Wing News. (According to the crowdfunding page for Kavanaugh the campaign now closed short of $500,000, after some people withdrew money due to the change of beneficiary).

Hawkins started a Go Fund Me for Kavanaugh around the time of his contentious nomination hearings that initially raised about $600,000; when Kavanaugh said he couldnt accept the money, Hawkins pledged to donate it to the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington DC. Quartzs calls to the Archdiocese were unanswered late on Thursday afternoon, so it unclear if they received the cash.
