Here is Nikki Haley talking about a Confederate history month and how the south fought for tradition.

The alt right and standard Republicanism are not different at all.

It was a lot more than that.

But you're right, instead of reflecting on why people might have voted for Donald Trump, let's just say they're all racist alt right goons. That's sure to win us the election next time.

And once again, instead of reflecting on why people voted for Trump, you're just going to take the easy way out and say it's cause they're all racist.

BTW, Republicans are suffering from the exact same thing and it's probably going to bite them in the ass down the line.

The real reason a lot of people voted for Trump was because they were sick of the establishment doing absolutely nothing for them on both sides and were so hopeless that they thought *anything* would be better than another establishment pick. That's the reason he was able to beat out all of the established GOP candidates, and the reason putting him up against Hillary Clinton of all people was a huge miscalculation

It's also going to be his ultimate undoing, as he has becoming nothing but another pawn to the establishment.

there are more than enough left leaning people to bury the right

you just have to motivate them to show up at the polls

because there's absolutely no reason to consider becoming republican lite to attract conservative voters. they're not crossing the aisle when they can have exactly what they want from their party.

perhaps after we win in 2020 by even larger margins than in 2018 due to the changes to gerrymandering rules and senate playing field, we should start asking whether republicans should move to the left ad nauseum.

Not all of them, just about the 32-38% that constitute his base. And they don't use the phrase "alt-right" anymore after it got toxic after Charlottesville. Despite, you know, the same people(and certain posters on CE) fully embracing the phrase prior to that when it was still "based and redpilled".

Richard Spencer's followers account for only a tiny fraction of GOP voters. Over 100 million voted for Trump. There are not 100 million alt right. The regular GOP base has become radicalized. If I were to liken Alt Right to a group like Hammas, then the "normal" GOP is basically Saudi Arabia.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/28-approve-trumps-response-charlottesville-poll/story?id=49334079

As noted, 9 percent overall call it acceptable to hold neo-Nazi or white supremacist views, while 83 percent call this unacceptable, leaving 8 percent with no opinion. Seventy-two percent feel strongly that its unacceptable.

Also related to the Charlottesville controversy, 10 percent say they support the alt-right movement, while 50 percent oppose it; indicating wide unfamiliarity, four in 10 have no opinion. Further, about four in 10 think the alt-right holds neo-Nazi or white supremacist views, nearly twice as many who say it does not (39 vs. 21 percent); again, four in 10 cant say. (Fifty-seven percent of Democrats think this is so, vs. 19 percent of Republicans.)

10% of the US population would be about 32,500,000 people. And that's probably a bit of an overstatement but it's stupid to say a "tiny fraction".

Your political affiliation absolutely defines what kind of person you are, and for you to compare it to race or background is completely absurd. You CHOOSE what you believe politically, and despite your guys wishes that it would be equitable to race, probably so you could make it a protected class none the less, it's not the same thing.

No, if it was just Republicans the estimated number would be a bit less than 32 million but I concede it's not really a tiny fraction. Most likely the highest concentration of those people exist in states that are solid red as well.

That doesn't make it the same thing as a political stance. When you identify with a political party you are making a declaration of your stance on issues, and people will understandably have an opinion about who YOU are based on decisions YOU make. I never called them all bad people either, you are making that assumption based on how you feel about me.

It's not the same thing as race despite you guys wishing that it was so you could call other people bigots.

In 1978 and 1979, lawyer and First Lady of Arkansas Hillary Rodham Clinton engaged in a series of trades of cattle futures contracts. Her initial $1,000 investment had generated nearly $100,000 when she stopped trading after ten months. In 1994, after Clinton had become First Lady of the United States, the trading became the subject of considerable controversy regarding the likelihood of such a spectacular rate of return, possible conflict of interest, and allegations of disguised bribery.[1]

Various publications sought to analyze the likelihood of Clinton's successful results. Clinton made her money by betting mostly on a market downturn at a time when cattle prices actually doubled.[12] The editor of the Journal of Futures Markets said in April 1994, "This is like buying ice skates one day and entering the Olympics a day later. She took some extraordinary risks."[2] Her activities involved exposure to losses that could have been greater than her family's net worth if the market had turned sharply against her.[13] The former head of the IRSchief counsels Commodities Industry Specialization Team expressed skepticism that a novice trader could make such a return.[14] One analysis performed by Auburn University and published in the Journal of Economics and Finance claimed to find that the odds of a return as large as Clinton obtained during the period in question were about one in 31 trillion.[15][16][17]
