I just rewatched it and I dont think its nearly as bad as people say it is. There are other movies in the MCU worse than this

Thor 2 was better than Thor 1.

I'd argue it's also better than 3 because 3 is a straight comedy movie.

It felt more like a transition piece for the other movies and less of a Thor movie. The actual Thor plot was weak and seemed like it took a backseat to the universe stuff.

I think this mostly. The villain was really generic & boring. Portman was phoning it in through the whole movie, like she does in all her payday roles.

Thor & Loki were both fine, but we'd already seen that play out in Thor 1 & the Avengers, so we didn't need to see it again.

It's not horrible, it's just really really apparent that it was just a vehicle to introduce the infinity stones.

Kind of like how Iron Man 2 was just a vehicle to introduce Black Widow/Avengers.

It did result in something of a contradiction in the MCU lore. In Infinity War, it was shown that on their own, the stones have a limited area of influence. But it Dark World, Malekith almost used the Reality Stone to remake the Universe.

Has this been stated to be the case, or did Thanos just not care about keeping Gamoras friends dead?

Because I hear people say this a lot, but people also don't seem to be aware that in the comics Thanos had a weird sense of honor about using the stones in straight combat, which could have just been carried over to the MCU.

In theory, it could very well be from a sense of honour. You may be correct there. However his motivation was changed from the comics, so while it's plausible, we can't count on it for certain.

True, but like

Jeff Goldblum giving off mad pansexual energy

Valkyrie was super gay for a Valkyrie lady, and was meant to bed a woman at one point in the movie

It's very comedic, to the point where I would call it a comedy movie over an action flick, but I wouldn't call it a straight comedy movie - ya dig?

He's quite a bit more insane in the comics, so I don't really see how "his motivation is different" would mean that he would be less honorable.

The story doesn't do much to develop Thor as a character compared to movies one and three.

Generic evil bad guy is generic and evil.

The movie primarily was a vehicle to introduce the reality stone.

I don't hate the movie, it was just really bland.

Loki appeared to have been killed earlier in the movie, during a mission where he and Thor had joined forces, and the two shared an emotional moment where he died in Thors arms. The ending scene of the movie saw a conversation with Thor talking to his father Odin, who was seated on his throne, where Thor declined the offer to take the throne. After Thor walked out, it was revealed that it was actually Loki, who had taken the form of Odin, raising questions about how Loki managed to survive and what had happened to the real Odin.
