The characters that make it into Smash are determined by games that Nintendo wants to promote, and Crono hasnt been relevant in forever. Maybe well get Sephiroth some day, if we actually get news about the FF7 remake after four years of complete silence.

also Persona 5 is probably coming to switch honestly. Joker being in there will help sell it. (on top of it already being a pretty big seller on PS4 at 2+ million)
