I'd be curious as to if there is anybody who can legitimately answer anything other than 6-9, assuming we're just talking about punching in time values and not counting the numbers being used for pre-set special options.

1-4 are common minute values, 5 (and 0) are common for the ones place in the seconds. I don't know about everyone else but I'll sometimes enter a minute or minute and a half as 60 or 90 seconds, so 6 and 9 get some use. The answer has to be 7 or 8 for me

9 also gets use if you are lazy and just put in 59 seconds instead of 1:00 (especially since the two numbers tend to line up in a row ending with the "start" button).

8 though, not really sure when I'd use that one.

8 for sure.

1 is used a lot by my roommates
2 and 3 are very common for minutes.
4 is decently common for minutes.
5 is used for five minutes and anything needing an extra five seconds.
I use 6 for 60.
7 is my favorite number and sometimes I press it just for kicks.
I use 9 for 90.
0 for a lot of stuff

8, almost never.

1 maybe? I thought this very question some time ago after looking at a worn keypad. I often put things in for 27 or 48 seconds or whatever simply to use all the keys.

If 6-9 were removed nobody would notice.

My microwave has an "add 30 seconds" button, which I tend to use more than any numbered ones. If I'm using numbers, it's either for times upwards of 2:00, or times like 15 or 20 seconds. I'm gonna guess the least used would be 6 or 7, since we tend to warm up cat food for 8 seconds and therefore that gets used pretty frequently.

It's faster to type 59 instead of using 3 buttons. I do use 14 seconds for hot dogs though. Maybe I should guess 2.

Its even faster to just hit 1. It sets the microwave to one minute and starts it. Mine does it for 1-6.

My current microwave has the start button also function as a +30 seconds button, so at present I use that on it. But for microwaves without that, 59 is the way I typically do a "minute."

I don't like microwaves that do X minutes if the only thing you press is one number button. Because then, you have to press an EXTRA button if you want something other than a flat number of minutes.

Probably use 2 the most. I do use 9 a lot. I almost never use 8, though. I've probably used 8 more just setting the clock than actually microwaving food.

I will input 80 instead of 1:20 because it's less keystrokes.

I almost never use the 11 on mine

So unless button presses from the Stanly Parable (or its demo) count, 8. Definitely 8.

Indeed, if anything,7 or 8 ought to be least common.

Normal recipes rarely would specify heating for 7-8 minutes.

And no recipe would specify heating for a time ENDING with 7-8.

So whichever sees more ACTUAL use would basically be:

number of minutes on number-for-instant-minutes-press vs. People who decide to type 58 instead of 59.

...

In that case, let us be honest.

7. 7 is the least used. People with a disposition towards making vain attempts to please some goddess of luck even in the most mundane of activities of luck will choose 7 (due to some conception that 7=lucky), but otherwise, who uses 7?

9 can be used by people who want either 1:30, or people who want to just say 59. 8 can be used fir 1:20. What can 7 be used for?

If that is directed towards me, I insinuated that 7 ought to be the least commonly used microwave number for various reasons, some of which may or may not be applicable to either only myself OR some sort of superstitious "gambler" type person, but which may also apply to other people who are neither of those things.

I made a type in that sentence before the "..." though, in that it should be "People who type 59 instead of 1:00."

Hmm... tough question. Sometimes I put random stuff like 58 seconds instead of 60. Or 1:49 instead of 1:45.

But ultimately, 7-9 is pressed the least.

A lot of things I microwave are supposed to be microwaved for 1:30, and I put in 90 seconds for that. Is convenient.
