Ive gotten 3-4 of them in my life and thats about it. Thankfully Ive never gotten the flu. Maybe because I know how to wash my hands and use hand sanitizer. Who knows.

I think it's a good idea, but never personally have gotten one. My track record with the flu is really good, haven't contracted it in many years. I figure if I manage to get it one of these years I'll start getting shots going forward.

I don't get it myself personally because I don't interact with children on a daily basis and I'd rather avoid getting a shot.

Plus I don't really get sick.

Though people should get it and I admit I'm rather hypocritical on this.

Statistically speaking, you're better off if you get a flu shot every possible time that you can, but it's not a guarantee that you won't get a variant of the flu. And if you have any very young, very old, or immuno-compromised people in your life that you care about, the best thing you can do for them is to get regular flu shots.

Are you sure you just didn't have the symptoms of the flu but not the virus. Because symptoms are just the bodies reaction.

A lot of friends and relatives are having babies and the parents are getting older. I would feel like an ass if they got the flu because of I was a too big of a wuss for a pinch in the arm.

I've read a diary from the 1918 flu epidemic (funnily enough, about 100 years ago not quite to the day, but within a few weeks) where the owner writes in disturbingly detached resignation of the deaths of most of her children one by one. Then her husband succumbs. Then she starts getting sick. Then the entries just stop.

It's extra sad to think these people had just lived through the effects of four years of war, were looking to celebrate the end of it and then just started dropping like flies.

I've never gotten one but that's simply because I've had the flu maybe once in my entire life so have just never bothered. Have nothing against it though.

I've been getting them every year for several years. I used to be too lazy to get them, but that changed when people close to me became immunocompromised (fighting off cancer).

Furthermore, I believe I've been helped at least three times by the shot. Twice I did not get sick even though several other people where I work got the flu, and another year I had a very mild case where I only missed two days of work outright and was fully better within a week whereas coworkers who didn't get the shot were out 2-3 weeks with the flu.

I don't like shots and I'm a perfectly healthy guy that isn't going to die if I do get the flu. Maybe when I'm older I'll start getting them.

WWI was already a top 5 most gruesome things in history so yeah that's super depressing.

Serves a purpose to those who get them. I don't. I don't get the flu so I don't need them. Also lmao at tc's mention of hand sanitizer. That shit is lame. My immune system is as amazing as it is because hand sanitizer didn't exist (to my knowledge) when I was young.
