I have a very hard time believing people who want bloodshed over something that ultimately has 0 effect on them care about "justice" and instead actually want "vengeance."

fair, next. should get life no parole

I can't agree with that, assuming he doesn't have a criminal history. Everyone should have a 2nd shot.

The woman he killed and has zero remorse for doesn't get one, neither should he.

You're too focused on punishment here. Sure, he may not be remorseful yet, but that could change through rehabilitative efforts.

thanks for clarifying you are incapable of carrying on an argument or justifying your position. if you feel like actually having a discussion instead of flailing feel free to come back.

what the fuck is this bullshit? you have a seriously flawed understanding of how voluntary discourse occurs, and you are reading a ton of shit into my comments that are simply not there. all i did is ask you one simple fucking question.

nah, you clearly took a position and are now unable to substantiate it so you are flailing

i'm not "unable" to substantiate the position i might have. i haven't attempted to substantiate any position, nor do i care to or intend to. once again, all i did was ask you one simple question about something you said. that's all i was interested in posting about in this thread, and that's why that's all i posted about in my initial post. exactly what the fuck are you not understanding about that?

'not taking a position, just clearly taking a position'

riiiight. you just cant back up what you clearly think

*sigh*

It's already been addressed multiple times in this topic...it costs more for taxpayers to fund an execution than it does a life sentence without parole.

I understand that. Im questioning our long and drawn out process as well as the sentence. There are people on death row who admitted to murdering entire families, and it takes many years to get rid of them.

I used to be against death row due to the costs, but then I realized in many cases, death row inmates are housed separately and have far less privileges than lifers. People serving life can gain access to televisions, social interactions with other inmates, playing games together, finding work and ways to occupy their time, etc. I don't think that's necessarily justice for some people. Some people should be locked away in confinement to suffer for what they did.

Death penalty should be reserved for cases that are blatantly obvious and unquestionable of guilt. Because our justice system still does get things wrong sometimes.

Due process is due process. If we throw it out when we're double dog sure that someone is guilty, then we are opening up a huge can of worms. When is sure sure enough?

Just a reminder, the death penalty is still life in prison, it's just less lifetime. Anyone who sincerely worries about the cost of the death penalty should aim their focus on other prison costs, like drug offenders serving so much time in prison for minor drug charges. But fixing that might bankrupt all these slave labor camps disguised as correctional/rehabilitation institutes.

That said, I'm only really supportive of the capitol punishment in certain cases. Like all child molesters, rapists, and serial killers.

I'm...not seeing why he'd get life in prison or the death penalty. He accidentally killed one person. People get less than that for literal serial killing and murder. That doesn't make sense justice-wise.

He intentionally killed one woman and permanently injured a dozen more. He fled the scene, also showing it wasn't "an accident", and him openly showed no remorse for his actions. He went to Charlottesville with the intention of stirring up violence, as shown by his conversations and sharing memes about violence and running down protesters prior to the event.
