Devastated man loses his wife but saves their baby daughter after he had to make a heartbreaking choice between the two when she began hemorrhaging and went into early labor.

-Keyvonne Connie was seven months pregnant when she went into early labor.

-Her husband Frederick Connie saw blood everywhere and rushed her to hospital.

-Doctors said she could have surgery that would lose their child, or a C-section.

-They warned that Keyvonne may not be able to survive the emergency C-section.

-Frederick chose C-section, believing that's what Keyvonne would have wanted.

-She got to see pictures of her newborn baby girl just minutes before she died.

This. If I'm reading right, he had a choice between something that would 100% kill the baby, or something that had some chance of killing the mother. Depending on what he was told the odds are, he might have risked the chance at both.

Same. If I wanted kids, my approach would be that if I had to choose, I would choose my wife because as heartbreaking as the situation is, we would have more chances.

The truth is cruel as fuck but lying is lying. No one should have to be in that position and there is no objective "right" choice, but I think this guy did it wrong. Even though he made the choice he felt she wanted, she was not necessarily in the most sound of mind to state that. Of course she would say "save our kid over me," but that doesn't mean he should have gone that route.

It's a terrible tragedy and I'm not judging the dude or throwing hate at him, but I believe his decision was incorrect and that he should have elected the surgery that would save his wife, and assuming the baby was indeed lost in the process, they would have had many ways to honor her memory and spread awareness of such complications.

That doesn't make it right and it doesn't make her right for trying to impose that call. She isn't thinking about life after her. She isn't thinking about the guilt her offspring may very well carry regardless of his insistence upon the decision. The child is out in a position that is unfair, a position of imposed empathy where it would take sheer narcissism to be shed, because who the fuck would just shrug it off like "welp mom's dead but at least I'm not lol"

It's one thing if there was no option, but this poor kid will grow up having to balance the concept of resenting her father, resenting herself and trying to come to terms with it all. With baggage like that, she could potentially change the world... but I wouldn't wish a burden like that on anyone. It's too much. It's not fair.

Lol some of you kids will understand this when you're older. I was like you guys when I was in my teens/early 20's and childless. Once you have a kid though your brain just clicks a button and your priorities do a 180.

We know that. Don't be foolish. Demanding a divorce and getting one are not the same. Of course that would have been her initial response. It would have a real response. To it, mine would have equally been real and it would not have been granting that fucking divorce. When you combine your life with someone else, it becomes a two way street.

"I'm not fucking having you dying on me" is a universally objectively correct stance. If she leaves him for that and their relationship is irreconcilable no matter what he does and no matter how much time passes and how much therapy is pursued... well... she was never a decent person to begin with. "Let me pop one out for you to deal with while I just conveniently die :shades emoji:"

7 month old baby are not fully developed yet, it's going to be tough on her internal systems for coming out early. I hope it works out for her in life.

I'm newly married and we haven't started trying for kids yet.

Right now, gun to my head, I would probably save my wife. But I don't know how I'd react in that situation.

I feel like I'd still pick my wife.
