... pick Alucard. Looking at the contest stats seeing less than 10% predicted Alucard winning division. For many of the early tournaments he would annihilate my bracket. I got the message, played SOTN on PS1, and realized why he is so awesome.

What is the one lesson you learned from past brackets?

You can never run from the LAW.

Don't just copy paste X-stat calculator results in your bracket, use it as a general guide but look at other factors that could affect the match like gaming popular trends in the series, vote totals, if youre forced to vote in all matches, etc

especially if they're from a format that's different

Never predict based on a previous rally.

Final Fantasy really bombed it this year. Maybe if Square Enix did not throw the whole series in the dumpster it could have been more like the old days.

Aerith looked good, but a plurality of B8 expected her to reach round 4. Tifa did fare far better than anyone expected, while Vivi and Auron fared as well as most of us expected, in the latter's case thanks to weak competition. In particular, though, Squall and Sephiroth looked really bad compared to past contests, which is coloring people's perceptions of FF as a whole (combined with a few first round losses that most people didn't expect).

I don't know I've seen more surprises than disappointments overall with the FF cast.

The only real shocker to me and of course most others is Seph. Squall isn't exactly a shock to have an off contest every now and then (all things IMO of course)
