This is wayyyyyy better than HHH to me (which I think is a pretty decent season despite the ending). This ending is much better too. I've never been annoyed or rubbed the wrong way by Nick. He's decent, pretty good even. I almost feel he really is a mix of JT/Stephen.

Keep in mind, I liked HHH to a potential top ten spot until the ending too. It was only those last three episodes, when everyone I liked got booted in order to usher in a shitty Ben win, that it turned bad. It's almost EXACTLY the same, except replace bullshit idols/surprise fire-making with three straight immunities.

Alison was not a goat, and I don't think there's enough evidence to claim Kara was at all. And I'm not sure Mike is a goat, especially given he received 3 votes against Nick.

I think you're jumping to conclusions.

There must have been something going on off screen for Alison to be considered such a big threat by everyone because she won like, one challenge. Her edit for the first half of the season was her considering an alliance with Gabby and then not doing it. Her edit in the second half of the season was thinking she was leaving then not leaving.
As far as I could see, Kara's entire strategy consisted of being nice to people and not a threat.
This episode was definitely Mike's best of the season. I was impressed with him tonight.
Overall though, my point was no one in the finale was a threat to Nick winning, which made for a boring finale, even though Nick's win is entirely deserved. It was the complete opposite of the unpredictable tribals we got midseason.

nick is a good winner. mike played the best game for sure but nick is definitely above average as a winner in a top 10, possibly top 5 season.

angelina trying to blame being unlikable on being a woman is weird. she played extremely poorly and has been the obvious goat for a long time. people like women that play great games, parvati is probably the best survivor player of all time and she obviously played manipulative and aggressively, she just wasnt extremely unlikable and awful strategically

HHH had a genuinely awful penultimate and finale. This one was just slightly underwhelming compared to the rest of the season.

Still easily a top 10 season. Maybe MAYBE top 5.

I think with distance this finale will only improve. We've been getting very good episodes all season, both pre and post-merge. I'm okay with a fun, kinda wholesome finale.

Vegas the spoiler said that there was a cheater discovered during clean up of Survivor during the final 3/4 because their was some form of "contraband". I called it BS on Twitter because I didnt think it made sense logistically and I got blocked lol. What could you even sneak in that would make an unfair advantage, especially now that the fire making exists the final immunity challenge isnt everything anymore. So damn stupid.

He put a picture of him and Kara on Instagram saying fuck it and Survivor pulled NDA against him, banned him from the finale, and did not pay him for playing. Kara got warned but no action was taken against her. Finally, TMZ picked up the story and it's really the only reason why anyone would have noticed honestly.

Alec posted a pic of himself and Kara as a couple on Facebook with the caption "Fuck it."

There were also apparently people saying dumb shit like "I really enjoyed playing with X," X being a player that they had never been on a tribe with at that point, but I don't know who those were.

I held off on making a winner pick before Kara was eliminated because the fact that she didn't get banned from the reunion combined with her fairly solid edit had me convinced she was the winner.

the next season of survivor look iffy to me. i dont generally like casts mixed with returning players and newbies but phillipines was really good. the twist with the island seems dumb but i will definitely give it a shot, if it is 3/4 as good as this season it will be great

So I'm tentatively ranking DvG 17th overall. It's better than HHH because at least the ending was fair and not bullshit, but still, it followed the same pattern of GC/HHH with a really strong and interesting season right until the last three episodes sent things careening over a cliff.

Not bad. The best modern one (at this point I'm counting 31+ as "modern") was MvGX, where only the first 5 boots didn't get to speak.
