The music is so obnoxious and loud. In the first season it's tolerable; other than being good it was part of the whole blackxsploitation homage the show was going for, so fine. But now the music in every scene is just loud, and bad. I constantly have to lower the volume and then turn it back up when the characters speak.

Bushmaster is annoying too, not sure what's with jamaicans as villains this season.

I've always liked this show, even when people disliked the second half of the first season, I still like the show. But damn they're doing the villain gets caught then gets away somehow again? Ain't they all tired of that shit. I knows we the audience is.

And it's other things in season 2 that's weird. Like the opening episode where the waiter asks maria and shades "what are you and your nephew celebrating". Lol what? Literally no one on the face of this earth has ever made a weird random ass assumption like that. Why nephew even? Like, it's just so random and contrived and an inorganic scene to showcase that the mariah and shades relationship is seen as unorthodox by others (which I don't even know why by the way; if Shades is in his 30s mariah looks to be in her 40s, not really an age difference. He definitely doesn't look like some 20 year old spring chicken if that's what they're implying, he definitely looks old)

Then there's the scene where mariah talks about her childhood and how she was teased for being dark skinned and being called black mariah. Um... even bigger lol what? It's Harlem they're all black! I don't even... unless I forgot a plot point from last season that mariah went to an all white school or something? Because that's the only way I could see her being teased for her skin tone, otherwise it's literally breaking my brain how stupid some of the shit season 2's writing is getting away with.

Don't get me wrong I consider these small complaints in the grand scheme of the show, but just wanted to comment that the particular scenes are so jarring, they literally had me yell out lol what while I was watching the show. They're not heavy plot points which is the only reason they don't trump last season's ridiculous half brother twist, which really was acceptable in a blaxploitation movie sense kind of way.

Shades has never been shown to be about just mindless killing. He is definitely a bad guy and definitely okay with killing but he doesn't just kill people who aren't part of the game. That and Shades is a very shown to be largely low-key. Mass shootings draw a lot of attention.

I know how you feel about that ending. There's absolutely nothing leading up to it in that hints that Luke's gonna go that way. I have no idea where it came from. Maybe they found out the show was getting canceled during filming and just said "fuck everything".

Next scene shows him in the suit, directly contradicting that statement, I'm so confused.

I was hesitant on forming a final opinion on season 2 but that ending makes it so much worse than 1, especially since I'm one of the few who didn't hate the second half as much as everyone else seems to, recognizing the stupid half brother twist for what it was, an intentional blaxploitation homage (regardless of good or bad)

I enjoy S2 overall. The ending is, uh, weird, at best. It's not enough have me to say I really enjoyed.

Part of my problem with the ending is that with the monetary problems, and "you're hired" moments, the show seemed to be heading for a heroes for hire ending, instead of the ending it had.

I'm surprised how you could enjoy it overall, and not just because of that bizarro ending. It's like, Bushmaster's arc just kind of... peters out anticlimactically with them literally shipping him out on a bus in the dead of a night, like something out of a tvtropes page.

Didn't he want to kill Mariah and take over Harlem? Or is the few hours of him standing on that harlem's paradise balcony enough for him to have claimed "his birthright" that he so obsessed over?

I'm just wondering what they meant by that last scene with him, like is he finally returning home, is he going to rest and come back stronger for more revenge, like the weird ending they just didn't make it clear. Like, I personally was under the impression he's dying and that's it for him since Tilda said that all his internal organs were failing due to all the nightshade usage.

He wanted to stop Mariah Stokes, while he wanted to rule Harlem. He got the first and realised the second wasn't something he really cared about. The Stokes are what he really cared about, and he dealt with them. I'm pretty sure he's going to die from the nightshade but like many stuff from comic stories it's vague enough the writers can come back and reveal otherwise.
