Do you legit have no friends or are you just like me in that you have plenty of people you consider friends and who would consider you a friend but you just really don't ever see or interact with them due to various reasons, some based on circumstances, some based on you just not wanting to bother making an effort or wanting to keep to yourself?

I have lots of acquaintances/casual friends/a few work people, but only 1 friend that legit actually make the effort to spend time with, and even then, if I'm not drinking, I don't want to bother because the dude's too fucking intense for me to be around when I'm sober but I can pretty much have a good time under most circumstances when I'm fucked up. I feel that ways about most people. I'm friendly and approachable enough but I have a hair trigger when it comes to any sense of feeling even the slightest degree of judgment from anyone, so on the surface, I appear completely normal but it's like I have a 50 foot thick wall around myself that I can't ever let anyone get through. Sometimes I feel like I'm better off for it, other times it's just disheartening.

In any kind of social situation, I'm completely fine and good to go if I have some kind of mission. If I'm just there for the sake of being there, I'm like "Why the fuck am I even here? -_-"

Didn't need to find a babysitter, that's my job. My birthday is in 4 days, so to make it even, I get to watch the kids all day while she's at work, so that when she gets home she will be too tired to be bothered with doing anything for my birthday.

My marital situation is different, but not much better. It is unequivocally the must frustrating experience to have to deal with. The only saving grace for me is that we don't have children, which is making it somewhat easier to pull the plug. Some advice that I've gotten, which at first I was hesitant to follow because I kept telling myself, "give it time, it will get better", is to put your own happiness first. I can't and won't tell you what to do, but for myself, I decided that rather than live my life in an unhappy situation, to remove myself from it so both myself and she can move on.
