Probably can get through the story in about 20 hours but doing everything you're looking at around double that.

It's great for a new IP's first outing. It reminds me a lot of Far Cry Primal but with Robot Dinos. I enjoyed the somewhat tactical element the game has in taking down these beats. The story is quite solid too. I'd recommend it for that price for sure. You can't go wrong.

$10 for the complete (physical) at some retailers if price makes a difference. I bought it but haven't played it yet. Majority of people like it, it seems.

Its really good. I liked it more than most of the games Ive played recently...

For how long, its a good length. It sort of depends on how much you explore and stuff like that.

I would definitely buy it for that price. 100% would recommend.

The gameplay is great if you force yourself to use all the tools available to you. Otherwise you'll end up jumping up and down in one spot for every single fight to trigger the slow-mo shooting...because that is, hands down, the easiest and most effective way to play.

The storyline, however, is absolutely awful. If you're at all a fan of sci-fi you'll see absolutely every beat coming a mile away. What makes it worse is they give away the entire hook of the game in the opening cutscene (where Aloy, the MC, came from), then later on treat it like some huge revelation.

You mean to say if you play how the game intends you to play it's more enjoyable? This is very shocking.

That's like, your opinion man. I thought it was terrible and incredibly predictable.

And I could easily argue that because the game gives you the insanely powerful ability to slow down time, while also visually highliting the weakpoints of the enemies, that that is the way the game wants you to play.

No, if you jump in the air/slide on the ground time slows down for a fixed amount of time. It's infinite as long as you keep jumping up and down to trigger it.

As you've proved you're going out of your way to "cheat" the system. No wonder you didn't have much fun with it if you're using exploits.

It's not cheating though? It's a mechanic in the game. It's literally an unlockable skill.

Imo, if you really want to point the finger at something being "an exploit" in the game look at the Bomb Slinger and Trip-wires. Throw down a metric fuck-tonne of trip-wires and anything in the game dies immediately. Alternatively unload on anything with the Slinger and it, again, dies immediately. Hell, one of the best Slingers in the game can be gotten within the first few hours of play if you rush the Hunter's Guild sidequests.

At least the slow-mo skill still requires you to aim your shots at the right weakpoints and use the proper ammo types. Slinger/traps put out insane damage with little, to no, need to aim and you only ever have to use one type of ammo.

Well, with the trip wire, you still need to put it down where they will walk. And you would need to make sure you have enough ammo, though you can use materials to make it.

Anyway, its not cheating. He said cheat the system, which you kind of are by exploiting it the way you are. They probably more likely they intending that to be used jumping from higher places rather than standing in place and jumping like a crazy person.

It's a decent enough game. The combat mechanics work fine and all.

But damn is it a dull game. I put in 75 hours to complete it, and I seriously think at least 20 of those were spent hiding in the grass.
It's a hunting game. Maybe that seems obvious to you, but it's marketed as an action/RPG, when it's really more about stealthing between cover (which is pretty much always tall grass, or smoke when indoors) and either luring foes over for a stealth melee kill or sniping with your bow. Whether it's machines, animals, people...you're hunting. If you like that sort of gameplay, you'll like HZD. If like me, you don't...it will be a trudge.
Also, the camera is super zoomed in and is especially terrible during indoor segments, which take up a ton of the main story towards the end. Navigating the indoor areas was annoying and tedious. Plus in said areas, you usually have a ton of data points to look for with your focus, and when using your focus you move like a snail.

I didn't have much fun playing the game, the only part I really enjoyed was the final story mission where the stealth largely went out the window and you're just going full ham on everything in straight up combat.

Also, if you've played Breath of the Wild before this, you're going to constantly be let down by the lack of climbing and exploring options in this game. Climbing has set "paths" you need to follow from point A to B to C, etc...

I do recommend getting to the gate town between the starting region and the desert region as soon as you can, and grabbing...i think it was a fox skin?... along the way, so you can buy the golden fast travel pack, for infinite fast travel. Most merchants in the desert region offer said pack, that's just the first location you'll be able to buy it.

I dont think I fully agree. A lot of it was stealth, but you can go fill fighting. It happens enough. And the dodge roll works great for that. I personally like stealth better. But I just went in going crazy and attacking shit lots of times when I felt it was necessary. The golden travel pack is a definite must have (for many) item. Though the regular ones work great early on. And werent too hard to craft. And climbing mostly had set paths. But you could get off path a little. Ive climbed up things sort of the wrong way a couple of times before finding the correct way. Haha.

But for TC, if you're still on the fence, maybe watch a little gameplay. Though, for $10-$15 bucks, I think you would still get at least a little fun out of it.

Ha, I'm playing it now. So far this week alone I finished Sonic Mania, Wild Guns Remastered, and Rad Rodgers. (Need to make room on the backlog for some BF deals.) As a change of pace I decided to start Horizon and so far so good. Only a couple hours in. Tough to pin down a length because you can rush through or enjoy it by reading the text, gathering and crafting, doing all the side content, etc.
