Guaranteed to suck. Shoving more characters and stages in while doing nothing to help the stale, shallow gameplay will for sure result in a bad game.

Nah man 4 felt much tighter than Brawl. 4 felt a lot like Melee to me.

Like when you jump in Brawl, you stay in the air for too long, and I hate that.

0% chance it will suck. Individual parts, like the online, might suck, but the game in general looks rock solid.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of a stage creator. But theres already so many stages so its whatever.

Stage Builder, Home Run Contest and Trophies are gone. All Star Mode is now a Multi-Man mode. Event Mode is gone but the World of Light is basically a expanded version of that anyway.

They've apparently made these changes/additions to the gameplay:

This is a small one, but for certain characters who have a rapid punch, like Fox or Kirby, no longer need to spam the A button. Simply press and hold for rapid attacks.

Smashes can now be charged for significantly longer; up to about three seconds now rather than one. This can make smash attacks become much less predictable but can also create a bigger window for a counter attack.

Dashes can be canceled by using smash attacks.

By pressing (A+JUMP) to short hop attack at any time. If you are bad at short hop attacks (like me) this technique may be incredibly useful.

For one-on-one battles, the damage dealt will now be greater than that of party brawls. This was implemented to help make sure that the battles are well paced.

In a timed a battle, the player who is in the lead will sometimes flash with a light. This probably will never be noticed because who does timed battles?

Just like in Brawl and Smash 4, you can shield immediately after a dash.

Two Characters grabbing at each other will cause a double grab break. I ran into this a few times while playing and it through of a bit every time. So, this may take a little getting used to.

Footstools have returned, although now you can tech footstools on the ground.

New animations for certain characters, like Captain Falcon, now has a slow-motion effect on powerful attacks like his Falcon Punch. Mechanically this doesnt do much, but it does look epic.

Not counting individual character changes.

This isn't even close to accurate. If they were the same, Melee fans wouldn't be ragging on Smash 4 for having much slower gameplay and Brawl wouldn't have a non-existent competitive scene

I sold my Switch because I doubt it'll be very good. The things they'd have to do to make Smash a great game again, fly against what the fans want.

I said that I watched the first direct. It provided plenty of info about what was different. The problem is that the only changes were minor things. For all intents and purposes, its the same game as 4. I wanted to see one major change to shake up the gameplay and we didn't get that. Its stale. Nothing about the new game sets it apart from 4. Its pretty telling that over the course of this conversation nobody has been able to provide any real proof that invalidates my claim

You watched one out of how many directs the game has had? 4? And you think you know all that this game has to offer? They have mentioned several gameplay changes. I'm not about to summarize the last three directs for you lmao do your own research homie
