The most surprising thing to me is how little the no-random-battles thing actually impacts the leveling progression. It's actually not that much different from grinding trash mobs, but makes chaining Pokemon for higher IVs much less of a hassle.

And surprisingly the actual trainer battles are a lot harder because they're always around your level.

how bad is it to catch pokemon if your switch is docked and you're using joycons/a pro controller?

I mean, if you actively go out of your way to make them harder.

You know, instead of using the effectively uncapped stat boosters, x-items, or the starter that gets 90 BP 100% accuracy status moves.

Game exceeded the little expectations I had and ended up surprising me

Shiny hunting is actually fun and they nailed it, Better than the seeker which literally got me pissed off as a kid

Way more fun than waiting for an egg to hatch like the masuda method

I'm not policing anyone's fun, but it's outright deceptive to claim the game's battles are harder.

I do feel like they surely could have made it work, whether the same as the joycon or by using the gyro controls to match the handheld method of catching

hasnt been bad enough to turn me off but I like the feel of the pro controller better

They absolutely could have made the Pro Controller work, since the game uses standard 2-joycon controls in Handheld Mode. The Pro Controller has motion sensors as well.

It's great how Nintendo keeps forcing ginmicks on us. Especially the horrible motion controlled types.

Why would you care about IVs when you can just feed pokemon stat boosters (which are, from what I understand, different from EV boosters from other games) until they have +200 in every stat, and no one can tell if you've only used a few? Seems silly.

They're the same as EVs

There are bottle caps for raising IVs, just like Sun and Moon

Yes. Which is stupid and doesn't even make sense. If the game can support normal controls in handheld, why not in docked mode?

That and who the hell is competitive battling in such a barren environment with over 90% of the Pokemon gone, no held items or abilities and mechanics catered to single player.
There's a reason most people don't play RBY competitive anymore.

They can, but I'm not holding my breath.

The sad thing is someone clearly put a lot of work into the Pokeball Plus, with the sounds effects, rumbling, Pokemon sounds, etc. It's really cool, but playing with it is a huuuuuuuuuuge pain in the ass.

If you ignore the candy and don't just stick with your starter the difficulty seems pretty standard. Misty even knocked out my Pikachu.

The candy boosts stats regardless of level. But you do overall need to go out of your way to trade the Pokemon in and pump all of the candy into a specific Pokemon.

I think they've done this for the Master Trainer post game so you don't need to grind every single Pokemon to a high level. So really if you intend to do that it's probably better to just wait for the post game to use them. But they do give you the option to break the game if you want to.
