Aside from the fact Gohan wouldnt have killed him because the reason Cell even blew himself up anyways was because Gohan was just toying with him instead of actually trying to kill him....

I mean this is the same series that wrote an entire arc that made it look like Gohan was going to beat Buu only to throw him under the bus at the last minute and give us a terrible joke of a finale (at the time) to the series instead. Toriyama cant even remember the difference between Super Saiyan 2 and 3 design wise and didnt even know 18 was blonde. The guy knows less about his own series than the average casual fan

It's funny how you guys bring up speed feats for Goku and today in a new manga chapter that takes place after the recent Broly movie both Goku and Vegeta are both shot and ko'd by some Galactic Patrolman.





Now we can give the benefit of the doubt since this is a new character so he may be super strong, but Jaco's been aware of his existence as a superior for a long time, but Jaco is weaker than a Ginyu Force member so the power gap is pretty far fetched.

I don't care about either franchise, but peak Superman's feats have always seemed more convincing to me. They just have a lot more context as to what exactly Supes is doing, while DB stuff just seems like the exact same stuff over and over but described with bigger numbers.

Maybe Toriyama did a outline for this galactic patrolman arc, but I honestly doubt it.

isn't the Super manga considered non canon?

i believe the anime is seen as the primary source this time weirdly enough.

if the manga is canon we also have some really weird stuff like Goku knowing how to use Hakai (the god oif destruction technique that erases things from existence). or Master Roshi having a bootleg version of Ultra instict

They are both canon.

Thats been established and confirmed multiple times. It is however very possible to this new manga arc isnt, because I dont know if AT has anything at all to do with this.

Shit like this is exactly why DB will never look good feat wise. Even if this isnt canon it doesnt change that Goku was also basically defeated in the same fashion in RoF which is canon.

Sad thing the Broly movie leans more that the manga is canon and not the anime. Also this is very likely to be canon since the Galactic Patrol kidnapped Buu to try and get the Daikaioh out of him which is probably going to lead to the next arc.

you could make an argument for the pill, but thats the same as saying we dont know how powerful that space gun is

can we all just agree that power scaling in fiction in general tends to make very little sense?

that explanation doesn't really work when you've got someone like Frieza around who has a form on par with Blue, he's pretty okay with blowing up everything after enough gloating. it's just a retcon that happened immediately after because they just wanted to jump through more forms and God was just the stopgap.

and no, there isn't any assumption that Trunks had more power in any of strikes than an exploding planet, it doesn't follow internally. you know it ain't the sword because that's quite literally King Cold's assumption before jobbing, you know it ain't Trunks' raw power because nothing else anybody does matches it. it's just a strong guy with a sharp sword cutting up a weaker guy. dragonball as a whole is wildly inconsistent with durability, that's nothing new. it's just always "stronger guy beats weaker guy, whatever history before it is irrelevant."

when ranking power levels in fiction you look for consistency, not outliers. if the logic makes sense internally it's good, if it doesn't something's wrong. Super is fun but it's extremely inconsistent and has so many ass pulls that it's hard to take seriously. if there's any one thing that Super is consistent on it's that apparently SSJG and SSJB levels aren't that hard to do, i half expect Goten and Trunks to bust it out because they were park rangers for a day.

if you want something even more crazy it'll be in the Super manga: Gohan eliminates Kefla because why not and it's Master Roshi who teaches Goku how to achieve Ultra Instinct because he's almost perfected that state himself.

no really, Roshi eliminates one of the pride troopers, dodges Jiren repeatedly, makes the guy block hits, and tanks a couple hits. the manga is even sillier but it's probably more entertaining in its differences.
