Is the joke that a lot of the "hey, check out this video game references" are supposed to be awkward or were they meant to be serious?

Like, the little Zelda chimes and the discussion about "what do you play" were pretty natural and done well, but goddamn, the Pac-Man bit was just cringe inducing.

I liked the Zelda opening and little sound effects. I still need to see the whole thing, but I've watched pretty much the whole thing via clips on YT starting with the evil ex fights.
