Poor Mahomes, 450+ yards and 6 TDs is not a winning recipe

Not when you have 2 fumbles and 4 interceptions for 21 opposing points to go with them!

I don't think high scoring games automatically make a game bad, imo the bad thing about college is that such a large percentage of the games with good teams in them, are when the other team is some nobody getting outscored 70-7 or something when they shouldn't even be on the same field. College basketball is guilty of the same thing.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had more yards against the Washington Redskins than the Los Angeles Rams did tonight against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bucs scored 3 points; the Rams scored 54.

I don't think high scoring games automatically make a game bad

It depends on how high-scoring it is. When both teams have combined for over 100 points, I cannot think of many scenarios where I'd call the game good. When the vast majority of pass plays are throws to open or wide open receivers and the defenses aren't competitive to watch, I'm just not that interested unless my team is involved (and even then, I know my defense is irredeemable garbage that has no chance at winning a Super Bowl). The defense has to pose some reistance or threat to the offense for me to remain interested for the most part.

The only exception would be like last year's Super Bowl where the Eagles were the underdog and Nick Foles was making legitimately tough throws for big completions and also that previously second highest-scoring game where it's two terrible teams (Browns and Bengals) with generally bad offenses that are lighting it up out of nowhere. Plus it probably helped that I only saw like the 4th quarter of that Browns/Bengals game.

Also they did it at a time in the NFL when the game was not nearly as slanted in the offense's favor.

As far as college football, I guess it isn't the points that are scored so much as the low skill level on display and watching the few skilled guys destroying such inferior competition isn't interesting to me. That and because there are far less skilled guys in college, the defense is the side that tends to suffer from that skill discrepancy the most.

There are five .500 teams in the AFC right now and if the playoffs started tomorrow the 5-5 Ravens would get the sixth seed.

Well, 3, but even excluding those, there were 84 points scored and over a 1,000 yards of offense. Would have been even more offensive yardage and points if not for those turnovers.

I wouldn't pretend the Eagles were anything other than total garbage defensively for 90%+ of last year's Super Bowl just because they forced Tom Brady to fumble that one time anymore than I'd act like 4 nice defensive plays out of the 135 (or whatever number it was) run last night constitutes good defensive play.

My favorite game to watch this season might have been Texans/Cowboys.

I prefer close games first and ones that aren't shootouts second. It makes the big offensive plays all the more exciting. A game where nobody stops anybody and big plays happen left and right has the law of diminishing returns come on fast and heavy.

I suppose that also applies to baseball for me where I prefer a pitchers duel and each run scored means a lot more in the context of the game.
