Pidgeot with Wing Attack. And Mirror Move, and two others I don't remember, but nearly entirely Wing Attack. Back in my early Gold days. Just endlessly spamming Wing Attack with my trusty Pidgeot. Got me through the game, but Lance was hell.

Scyther -> Sand Attack, Double Team, Sword Dance, Slash. Boost your evasion to max, lower their accuracy, buff up your attack, and then slash to sweep through multiple enemies.

edit: Apparently he couldn't learn sand attack? Maybe just agility/double team/sword dance/slash....

I even gave it vitamins and shit, even when I was a 8/9/10 year old boy I cared about my Pokemon stats.

Like I remember getting confused on why my 2 level 100 Snorlax both had different stats even when I maxed out its stats with vitamins. Ah, the days where I didn't fully understood IVs.
