I need some Unbiased advice

I had been doing recruiting for a four years and I decided to make a jump to company that a former friend had sold me on to do inside sales thinking that I might like it more than Recruiting. Well, I was wrong so wrong in fact that I hate this job with a passion and I think Ill end up getting let go early next year.

I really hate sales type jobs but they were paying the bills for a few years but now Im at a loss. I dont want to go back to Recruiting only to end up going back to something that I see as dead end and I dont want to continue on with sales

I want to go back to school to get a degree that doesnt involve as much human interaction as sales does. I was thinking like accounting or something in IS.

I know Id have to sink myself into more debt but I need a change. I want to take time off to go back school full time as well. I didnt take school seriously for my bachelors (I was a finance major because my dad told me thats what hed help pay for and minored in IS and marketing) but Im ready to get serious and start a legitimate career path.

What were your thoughts CE?

I don't know exactly what an MBA is. I always heard of it in terms of management positions.

I know things like accounting or IS or finance would have their own masters programs.

The only advice I can give is I've been told an MBA is worthless outside of the top programs.

I was also told not to bother unless a company foots the bill.

Anyways best of luck. I just went back to school as well.

are you wanting the MBA just for the doors it opens or does the course work actually interest you?

my friends with MBAs that didn't do business undergrad generally have positive things to say about it. My friends with MBAs that did business undergrads generally think it was a waste of time as far as the actual schooling.

Id probably say a combination of both. Obviously getting a masters in a specific degree would open doors but Id want to focus on a field that I think Id be interested in

Do you actually know what you want to do with the degree? If you don't know, don't go.

This is my advice. I went back to get my MPA but it was part of a clear career pathway I was interested in
