Why? I don't see why you wouldn't at least get the match.

You have no desire to retire? The more money you put in now, the longer it has to grow.

Start sooner than later. Give it 20+ years starting late 20s-early 30s and youll actually have enough to retire at 65.

Youre already paying SSI tax, the most successful Ponzi scheme ever, like it or not.

Better to enjoy most of your money now than later. What's the point of having $1M in your bank account at 65 when you can gradually spend it while you're still young?

seriously, you dont want to retire? like ..... what? do you want to work your entire life or do you just not see yourself living that long?

you ought to be putting away 12% so you effectively have a 5% raise

What exactly is the cap on this? I doubt if you put 50% of your salary in a 401k they're giving you 43%. That would be a crazy high return.

A 7% match means your employer will match your contribution to a max of 7% of your salary.

In 2019 you personally can throw in $19,000 max. The sum of that plus all other contributions like employee match cannot exceed $56,000 or 100% of your salary, whichever is lower. If you're over 50 you can put in more, as a catch-up.

Everyone should put something away for retirement as early as possible. Your older self will thank you immensely.

401ks have an annual limit of $17.5k

edit: whoops, $19k, as pointed out above.

Well I guess that depends on what TC meant but a straight 7% match out of context means if you make 100k and put 10k away (10%), your employer will put in 7k. If you put in 5k they'd put in 5k.
