It favors characters with projectiles and strong ground games. AngelsNAirwav3s gave the example I was going to use. Melee Fox is great on FD. He's fast, good on the ground, and can fire his blaster at any time without hindrance. I was a Marth main in Melee, I liked being in the air because I had no projectiles and a strong air game. With platforms, I can jump from under you to setup combos, without platforms, I have to work (usually a throw) to get you into the air to then start my combos. If I'm playing against Fox or any other character with projectiles, in order to get in I have to dodge projectile spam. If there were platforms, I have a lot more options to get in. EDIT: My Melee knowledge is starting to go. I forgot that Marth just dominates FD, and my personal play style (no chaingrabs) is what made me not like FD with him. Fox/Falco are probably second on FD though, for the reasons I said above. But it's very hard to jump in on Marth, and FD makes it so much harder because you can only come in head on. But characters like Samus, who rely on platforms, are gimped hard on FD.
