Every time I get a good, stable job making more money than the average person I just feel empty inside because my life has no meaning.

I feel like I fail at everything that I do, that I am not as smart as I should be, that I don't "get" things that I used to get, or that life really is pointless / uninteresting and I am just complicating what other people find obvious.

People are going to reply with the usual hum drum of getting a hobby, and I am going to say that it is a Saturday night, and what would I be doing otherwise? I am not interested in going out and getting wasted or making a family, and throwing money at my problems will not help.

Why is finding meaning in my life so hard for me? Why do I choose to discard all of the meanings that other people make for themselves? Why do I insist oh having such high expectations for myself, only to constantly fail?

What are you guys doing tonight? I spent the day watching some Anime and that was just it. I have the week after next off but I have no plans.

I'm hiding from my homework because of my severe anxiety issues that have been plaguing me recently because of school, and the loneliness I feel every weekend.

I am also trying to sabotage myself at work atm, I have a very simple / mundane task to perform, and lots of down time but I am agitated because I am not working at my fullest so I am starting to repeat some of my past mistakes like being angry and not a team player. I want to fix this and get my act together before it's too late.

The only thing I understand is that I am normal/sane as long as I keep occupied. The moment I am not occupied I turn into this person that I don't enjoy being.

I am constantly lonely, it is not a good feeling to have. I have been lonely for as long as I can remember. I hope that you can get beyond it.

Do some volunteer work.

Spending your time to help others might do you some good. Food Shelters, Elderly care, Recreation and Parks or whatever it's called.. do some of that. It will allow you to open your eyes a bit, even if you don't directly communicate with someone

I'd suggest that he become a wandering fry cook. Then whenever there was a backyard barbecue, bam, fries.

No matter the degree of darkness in life, we must provide our own light.

What's important to you? Your family? Yourself? Your community? How do you want to be remembered? Do you WANT to be remembered?

You say you feel same when your busy - instead of a hobby, why dont you work towards something? Rosetta stone can help you learn a new language without leaving your house.

Volunteering somewhere can really make a difference if you dedicate yourself to the cause bigger than yourself. There's the peace corps or your local pet shelters for instance.

Every single thread. Do you read wikipedia?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennials
Data also suggests millennials are driving a shift towards the public service sector. In 2010, Myers and Sadaghiani published research in the Journal of Business and Psychology stating heightened participation in the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps as a result of millennials, with volunteering being at all-time highs.[81] Volunteer activity between 2007 and 2008 show the millennial age group experienced almost three-times the increase of the overall population, which is consistent with a survey of 130 college upperclassmen depicting an emphasis on altruism in their upbringing.[81] This has led, according to a Harvard University Institute of Politics, six out of ten millennials to consider a career in public service.[81]

This seems to be a common thread in the millenial viewpoint that I never seemed to get any attachment to, perhaps it's because I don't feel any attachment to my fellow human beings, where as a common thread between millenials is their strong social attachments (my guess is probably due to the rise of social media).

Nothing is important to me. I have no connections with others, or to my community, or to any of the online communities I am apart of. I for example deleted my reddit account of 6 years with over 100k Karma at a whim and I do not regret it.

The closest thing I can think of is bettering myself intellectually, except I have a problem thinking up projects I want to work at on my free time (I am a software engineer).

I tried to learn Japanese once in 2007-2008. I failed miserably at this, there has to be a reason why I do something, and that reason has to be strong enough for me to persevere. The only exception is work, in that I have a long track record of having an insanely strong work ethic due to being afraid of being inferior, due to the rampant ageism that goes on in my field of work and how competitive it can be between coworkers sometimes.

Its clear that to find any kind of happiness or fulfillment you are going to have to change.

In this topic youre making several statements about yourself that make you sound like a sad and angry person. Without finding things and people that are important to you then your life is gonna be empty until its over.

I swear you read the same wikipedia page as above. This seems to be a common thread in Millennials that I just can't understand. Same goes with political correctness I guess.

I also cannot spell Millennials.

Probably a group of people online I've known for the past 4-ish years. If you only consider real life people, I don't talk to anyone other than my mother and I may talk to her a couple of times a week as we really have nothing in common and there are so many things I cannot discuss with her without starting an argument.

Volunteering isn't a millennial thing man, it's a human thing. People before and after millennials have volunteered. Its helps you connect with something bigger than yourself. Mother Theresa definitely wasn't a millennial and look how the world remembers her.

Being bitter and hating the positive aspects of life isnt going to dig you out of the rut you say you hate so much. Your not going to magically wake up to your perfect life one morning without putting in effort to get there. Things that fall on your plate may be easy but when playing video games when your on easy mode while your an expert player, isnt the game boring?

Every thread I swear. There is no counter argument to this. It's simply that I do not wish to help people in that capacity. I think that people are iky and gross, especially if they are dirty. I am scared if icky and gross people. I used to live in a ghetto, it is a traumatic experience I do not want to repeat.

Now you may say "Well there are other places you can volunteer" and I say yes, life does not make sense, I dislike people because I am uncomfortable around people I don't know. That's the end of that.

I guess because you're not immortal, so you're feeling the future timeline of your life going nowhere and terminating at a pointless end. you're "supposed" to have a family/kids so that you can continue to progress. otherwise you're just dying a slow pointless death.
