Auron is actually underperforming here, Ng. Historically Auron has done 59-60% on Sub-Zero on several separate occasions (and this held for the 2010 and 2013 stats) so he's dropped a fair bit. Not as much as his contemporaries though.

The only FF characters who have definitely 100% not dropped are Vivi and Terra.

Squall is the Turd. Forget Zelda - his result against Garrus was not good. He's still a strong character but he's clearly fallen a good bit since the last contest.

I would also accept Big Boss and Red simultaneously being Turds, though.

Yeah, I was having a hard time coming up with Turds for this round, but I figure if anyone from this side of the bracket had a chance of beating Alucard, they were going to have to blow out their opposition. Neither did so, and thus Alucard is going to kill Red.

I would love if Tifa and Aerith could switch places. Zelda/Tifa would be a great match of the two biggest stars of round 3. I wouldn't even count Tifa out since she seems to overperform against other females.

Tifa would have to expose yet another fraud if that were the case

actually I'm not sure what I would've done had it been Aerith/Mewtwo

either way Tifa/Mewtwo/MMX/Luigi is a fantastic division that's largely lived up to the hype and might finish with another great match so we were better off with them not trading places because Tifa just curbstomps everyone for the first three rounds if she switches places with Aerith

In the first post, I did an hourly trend chart for registered user voting in the Tifa/MMX match. Based on that, I determined that the final 7 hours seemed to have the most rallying, with the heaviest rallying during the final 3 hours. I assumed the final 3 hours featured the rallying for Tifa, so went ahead and did the registered/anonymous voting stats for the final 3 hours of voting.

Is the fact Squalls game is fairly weak on this site finally a factor? I only really got into these contests in 2015(as in looking at x stats) but to me he stuck out when making this bracket and reading analysis as the one example where the character was supposedly far stronger than their game.

And now he's getting 60-40d by someone he should have narrowly edged out according to x stats

FFVIII was pretty strong in 2009, actually! It's clearly lost strength since then though, which may contribute to Squall's decline.

Plus, Squall gets a non-negligible portion of his strength from his roles in Kingdom Hearts, so that probably hurt him, too.
