I know it gets hate and a lot of it is unquestionably correct but I love the game. Just finished up playing through again from new save to finally try all the dlc. Finding a good challenge in the game is absolutely impossible once you've really understood the battle system though. Custom and Bringer of Chaos difficulty help.

That said weather and more specifically weather locked uniques are god awful game design. I can never fault people for disliking it but really love this game.

it's an anime cliche factory, but that was about what i expected and still found it enjoyable. only thing i didn't like was the gacha system for getting blades, just seemed completely unnecessary

They really should have had Rexs backstory a bit sooner <_<.

The sequence of the story is terrible. Should have given some information a lot sooner.

I threw in the towel at chapter 5. I tried my best to like it both because I love previous Xeno games and I had nothing else I wanted to play on Switch. Couldnt do it.

Umm if I remember right and don't want to risk spoilers you have a good ways to go. I think 7 is a big area 8 is considered a very... unpleasant if short area if I remember the chapters right anyway. The rest fly by really quickly though.

Think my numbers were off by one if your in 6 then once you reach the end of 7 you can burn through most of the gameplay. Cutscenes get very, very long though.

I utterly hate the first half of Chapter 7. It's such a terrible slog of a dungeon, the single worst area in the entire Xenoblade series.

However, Chapter 8 onward is my favorite part of the game.

I just didn't like it. It takes waaaaay too long for anything to happen, the characters and their voices are annoying af for the most part, and even the really basic enemies felt tanky. Plus, the graphics we're this weird weird mix of cartoony and realistic textures that was kind of hard on my eyes when playing handheld.

On a side note I finally got around to getting all the new game plus exclusive stuff. Beat almost every challenge mode mission but the couple hardest.

If you aren't just trying to get out of the game as fast as possible tc make sure to go to Tora's house at the start of chapter 9. Make sure you watched a Lefttherian heart to heart with Tora though.

I actually love Tantal, but I think I'm in the minority there.

Some people actually like Chapter 7's dungeon design. I don't. But, there is another factor to the dungeon that truly makes me hate it. You'll definitely notice something will be off. Especially if you're like me and happen to be at the appropriate level for the enemies to aggro you...

Also, no Pyra is annoying because her lack of presence makes many Blade Quests, and some normal quests, undoable for the time being. The chapter basically forces you to rush it.

I sent Roc on a mission and increasing Brighads trust. This is a bummer think Im close to the end of the dungeon too.

I think I was stuck at the same spot. Turns out the main path was somewhere else, if I remember right. Unless you can't get through the web at ground level.

Lmao. It happens. I think the field skill checks probably contribute to most of the frustration with the game. Really hinders exploration considering you have to rely on RNG to get the right skills.

Sounds like you've had some rough rng, what kind of blades do you use? Do you use Blade Combos, level 4 specials, and chain attacks in battles? Because it can get frustrating for endgame if you don't.

How do I get it to do multiple bursts?

When you complete a Blade Combo it leaves an orb. Orbs can be stacked but only one of each element can be out. If you use the same finisher as an orb you have out you do less damage.

When starting a chain attack you also hit the orbs. If you aren't using opposite elements (fire/water) you hit a random or for one damage. Orbs will take three hits normally and breaking one extends chain attack another round. If you use an opposing element you target the orb automatically and do two points of damage. Filling the gold bar with 5 orbs or less if you break multiple in a round causes Full burst.

There are a lot more details but important ones are elemental prioritizers that target weakened orbs automatically. Elemental enders destroy opposite elements in a single hit. Both of these are aux cores. There are accessories that can also multiply damage during chain attacks.

A single orb can always be broken for an easy two round chain attack. Two orbs are also easy with opposing elements. Some bosses that go crazy in lower health are best finished off with a full burst if possible.

Unless you have DLC since one blade (Corvin) has a near invincible evasion set up and can fill the chain attack gauge in seconds. Getting an accessory that raises the multiplier of chain attacks makes full burst much less useful then just one or two orb chains.

On Bringer of Chaos difficulty just pulling off Blade combos is hard and chain attacks do awful damage.

Yeah, pulling off full Blade Combos produces element orbs, 5 or 6 different element orbs can cause a full burst, using chain attack arts with elements that are strong against the orbs help break them more easily.
