I'm sure you all know what a savant is, but we're learning more and more about what is known as Acquired Savant Syndrome, and those are for the people that have had something medically go wrong with them like a stroke or other near-death experiences. Wtih the biggest one comes from people that get brain damage from blows to the head.

And blows to the head happened a lot back when these amazing civilizations were happening, so naturally it could be assumed that there would have been more people with Acquired Savant Syndrome thanks to hard hits to the head not only in battle, but every day life like training, farm work, falling from a horse, boys being boys, women getting beat at home more often, ect

So I think that may be a reason how they were so advanced back then and had such strong understanding of the stars and math.

I'd say it was figuring out how to do agriculture. When you don't have to hunt everyday, you end up with some spare time. Some people figured out how to build better huts, one dude threw some trash on the fire pit and found out that sometimes dirt turns into hard dirt when you heat it up. Then he made a bad ass shirt out of hot dirt. Nobody could attack him, so he stole all the bitches and made the soft skin dudes build triangles.

No, I get that. I'm talking about how well they could calculate the size of the earth 5,000 years ago and have it be extremely close to true. Greek Fire, Damascus Steel, the perfect pyramid, The Baghdad Battery, those sort of things

The more we learn the more shocking it becomes at how advance some of these places were in certain areas.

I had a major head injury as a teen that turned me into an entirely different person pretty much.

Edit: I actually don't remember much of anything before the head injury. Most of my childhood is Lost, I have bits and pieces, but most concrete memories start in eighth grade, when I got hit.
