Every dungeon in Majora's Mask except Woodfall > Forest Temple > Woodfall Temple > Every other dungeon in Ocarina of Time

I don't like OoT's dungeons.

Depends, if you like the Well enough that the average of your likeness of the three overshadows your favourite main dungeon, pick that option.

If you don't like the Well enough that the average of your likeness of the three doesn't overshadow your favourite main dungeon, pick your favourite main dungeon.

Simple.

Spirit Temple was the only good dungeon in OoT. Forest is a distant second and massively overrated.

tbh i kinda like jabu jabu's belly.

the fact that you're in a giant fish's bowels puts a bit of a damper on it, but the aesthetic is kinda unique and interesting to look at.

Spirit temple is probably my favourite.

I've enjoyed all of the Zelda games, personally. I feel like Spirit Tracks felt like quite a bit of a chore to play through, I at least found Phantom Hourglass charming. The original would have been tedious if it weren't for save states. Sorry, I don't have the time to play a game the oldschool way. With save states, I found it really fun. I can see how amazing it would have been in 1986. Majora's Mask is probably my favourite. I've beaten every Zelda game save for BotW (almost done), Zelda II (a couple temples in), and I haven't played Trifoforce Heroes.

When i play an adventure game i want a fucking adventure, not a guided tour.

When i want a challenging game i want it to be difficult, and not simulate difficulty by making me fucking wait and wait and wait.

And you know what, i take it back. 4swords with 4 friends was actually a lot of fun. So they managed to make one after the NES.

Turn off the notification system in BotW and you kind of have that. (Yes, I intentionally covered the map when it shows you where the dungeons are for the first time, and immediately deselected that mission)...(I also turned off the notification system for the shrines)
Everything that I have done in that game has been though pure exploration.

Ive actually heard decent things about botw, but after the massive string of disappointments before it i dont think i can justify buying a full fucking console for it.

So i will give botw a maybe, but wind waker, link to the past, ocarina, majoras and twilight princess were all overrated pieces of hot fucking dogshit

Plenty of the 2D games since the first Zelda have been mostly free to do in whatever order you want, perhaps after an initial set of dungeons that have a set order.

It does have flaws. Like every other game ever made. Doesnt mean its shit. Also doesnt mean its shit because people dont like it. There are lots of games that people dont like. In the end, the games are still fun to lots of people, so whatever...

You can explore most places in OoT before you have to go there, even as child Link. You cant do much of the main story out of order, but you sure can explore. Same as an adult. You can even do some of the temples/dungeons out of order to a degree. So if all you want is exploration, you got it. So, whatever. Also, most adventure games have an order they want you to do stuff in. So, you may have to follow the story. But thats about it. Going through the dungeon, you do that on you own. Or you can, at least. And thats probably suppose to be he meat of the game, I would think...

Whatever. Youre wrong and you know it. Having a story in a game to follow isnt something that makes a game bad. You can explore in those games, even if you cant do the story out of order (which happens in a lot of games), and a good number (if not all) or the top down games have it where you can do it in any order, which was what you seemed to be complaining about originally. So, you can pretend like you won or had a good reason, but you didnt.

The openness in the original LoZ makes for some pretty lame dungeons. All you do is just wander around until you find the end. The only "puzzles" along the way are bombing walls, pushing blocks and trying to remember where each end of a secret passage links up.

The exception I guess would be the one where you get the ladder. That is more close to the formula later games would follow, but still, walking over a one-block wide area of water isn't much of a puzzle.
