Would have been cool to finish this at Extra Life but I instead finished it on the airplane ride back to NY. I underestimated how long the hacker rank grind was, essentially making it over one and a half playthroughs to get the platinum.

As for the game, it's pretty much the same as the original, focusing on a new set of characters as well as some of the other characters that weren't as fleshed out in the original. There are some new battle modes such as Domination and Territory battles, but the base game is still very much the same. You can input your save from the original game and transfer all your medals (and get the rewards from getting all 500 again), your Digimon field guide, and a number of helpful items. This reduces the platinum grind by about 5-10 hours, but I still took 70+ getting the platinum so it's still a long game. Other than the hacker rank I already mentioned, other things that are needed for the platinum are to complete the Abyss Server (and all the minibosses in it, which requires multiple runs), finish the Colosseum, collect all 700 medals, and purchase some items in the online mode. Luckily like the original you can fight NPCs online, and the coin rewards can be increased via the online missions given. The missions I completed online were use Pumpkinmon 20 times, win a match with no deaths, and win 30 matches. After that I had all the online trophies.

I highly recommend the game if you've played the original, it's very fun. I wouldn't play it if this would be your first game as there are many points where some knowledge from the original helps.

I'm going to go through the rest of my 2018 games this month and see if there's anything I should be looking at more thoroughly. I already think I'm going to play a few of them regardless, but I'll see how it goes.

I don't know that I enjoy the Digimon games enough to still play this one now that Digimon Survive is on the way. I did enjoy Cyber Sleuth more than I expected, though. I didn't think it would be nearly as ambitious as it was.

This is fantastic news and something I didn't actually know about. Those medals were the worst part of the first game's platinum for me.

They actually added vendors that sell all 200 medals from the first game that aren't found in the gacha machines. So if you haven't played the first, all 500 of the original ones can be purchased, saving a lot of time waiting for drops or quests to appear.

There's only a few medals that need to be collected through enemy drops in this one, though. Most of the 110 that aren't in a gacha can be found just lying around or in the Abyss Server post-game if you miss any.

Doesn't 100%ing the first game add like 50 hours to it?

it seemed like quite a task

kinda sucks it just takes off 10
