Literally, with like actual continuity and references to the past, like well placed heartfelt ones. And... it's actually pretty good, I mean wow. A 30+ year old sequel plus being on Youtube Red meant that it was doomed to suck but it's actually interesting.

He's basically Sean from Boy Meets World if Boy Meets World was a lot darker.

I really liked it. I liked that for the most part Johnny was a good guy just had a different view of the past. I liked that his teachings actually showed him that it leads to unnecessary violence and anger. I hope he doesn't turn bad like it may have been hinting at in the end.

He absolutely was not and is not a good guy. Sympathetic, yes incredibly so. But not a good guy. Stuff like boosting Miguel's confidence is a good thing, and what I love about the show is that it doesn't portray everything as black and white.

That's what I did.

It was a story of if Daniel was taught by Cobra Kai, and if Johnny was taught by Miyagi. Bringing home the point of it being the teacher not the student.

See I saw it as his heart was in the right place but his means of achieving them were wrong. Sure he was flawed but he was trying to bring the kids confidence and to be "cool". He still was a bully to them but it was his way to try and help them out. He couldn't see until the end why his tactic was wrong.

But while being assertive or even aggressive has its usefulness, there are so many wrong things he says. I do like the fact that for a little while he took what Miguel's mom said to heart about not letting the bad stuff of your past affect your future, and hopefully he saw that it was an excuse for him to act like shit and keep throwing his life in the crapper.

It's interesting that they show how he views the past, about him being the victim of Daniel's harassment and stealing "his" girl. Also who the hell doesn't know what a facebook is lol, even just in passing. What, does he not know what the internet is either.

Yeah I dont know where they are going since he seemed really concerned the second to last episode and then the final reveal of the last episode.

I dunno, it's just always the case that a lot of actors seem to succumb to some kind of cancer or other dark as it is to say, probably from all the smoking that was done in the old days (and other factors). Every time I go to the cause of death section for deceased actors, it's some kind of horribly depressing affliction.

Gawd I really hope Miguel doesn't turn out to be bad. Also a bully with braces is so hilarious. And while I don't even want to consider "that" movie to be canon, I like the fact that Danny's daughter is basically like the female karate kid movie only better and a lot more likable, and also makes more sense because she's been karateing since childhood.

Huh you know what I realized about this show, it combines the new with the old very well. Developing the new characters and the old characters as well, showing respect for both. That new star wars franchise sequel movies should take a leaf out of this show, because cobra kai did it perfectly compared to those new sequels.
