And yes, I typed this without looking at my keyboard, while hunting and pecking, at over 80 WPM, and it's the only way I know how to type. No errors were made.

It also helps that I MEMORIZED the keyboard layout, and did this every day for the past 12 years or so, gradually improving. I don't know how I am able to do this, but it's a lot like talking. I just do it.

And yes, I aced my Typing class, by just typing sentences and ignoring the actual instructions, since it would have slowed me down.

Best way to learn how to touch type is to actually use backspace unlike your OP. Just doing the same thing and looking at the failed result won't help, you'll just keep doing it again.
Type it, see what you wrote and then try again.

Or if you care about the whole neutral hand positions you can learn them, but it's not needed.

I don't know if this is a joke, but the best keyboard practice I ever got was playing video games. No, not Typing of the Dead kind of stuff, although those can be fun if you want a more traditional Mavis Beacon kind of thing minus the boring. Things that needed you to converse, quickly and accurately, with others to accomplish your goals. MMOs used to be decent for it, but modern MMOs probably aren't as they now usually require neither cunning nor communication. Shooters with team modes were great, Quake Team Fortress was especially good because of the class element requiring even more specificity, accuracy and speed.

Keep working on it TC, you'll get there.
I took a typing class in high school back in the 70's, when guys generally didn't do that. It ended up having been well worth my time when computers came along. People these days have it made since they can delete mistakes easily while typing on a pc or other device. Auto correct is good if you know how words look when spelled correctly. If that doesn't work you can look it up and make sure it is the correct word and meaning.
