True but thinking about it in the context of Freddie Mercury in the 80's and 90's.

Or even the drug users of the 70's who were dying from "Junkie Pneumonia" or Robert Rayford or the Carr family. Although the people in the 80's and 0's probably had it worse. They knew what they were dying from, but with that came the public hysteria around it.

It really hit me how scary it must have been back then when I was watching Glow recently, guy dies from aids and funeral homes wont even take his body

When it wasn't clearly understood how it was transmitted, and all people were really aware of was that there were zero chances of survival if you were infected, so no one wanted to take any chances with exposure -- I remember reading a news report that some paramedics refused to touch or even approach people suspected of having AIDS. It's hard for anyone who wasn't around at the time to imagine the climate of fear in the early days.
