I've played all the older RE games, 5 was the last one I played. Should I get both 6 and 7?

I wouldn't say skip 6, it is playable. But only get it with a significant discount and don't go into it expecting a masterpiece. Mostly mindless shooter with focus on action and explosions. Possibly more fun with a co-op partner.

I reviewed it on PC a few years ago, gave it a 6 / 10, but it lost a point because of a PC glitch that a good number of users were getting even a year after release, where the game would sit on a black screen for several minutes when started. I would be sitting there for around 3, but others had it last up to 15 minutes. Don't believe you will get that anywhere else obviously.

I skipped 6 because I don't think I had a system to play it on when it was released, but then I heard it was trash anyway so who cares

7 was good, and playing on the hardest difficulty was a welcome challenge

They're two totally different styled games. RE6 is a fast paced and action oriented TPS, RE7 is slower, more horror, and first person.

RE6's Mercenaries mode is worth the admission price alone, IMO. I love it and that's what got 90% of my playtime.

RE6 is a much improved version of 5 if that helps you any. I personally think 6 gets shit all over cause of 1-4 fans, but it's still a fun game by its own right. People just couldn't handle the change in genre.

Resident Evil 6 is a great game in it's own merit. I feel it is vastly underrated and if you enjoyed 5 and have a couch co op partner to play with is def worth playing. But if it is between RE6 and RE7 and you can only get one, go with 7. No doubt about that

4 wasn't great because it was too much 'shooter' and I didn't have the mouse at the time. 5 was better since I was able to use the Move's and treat it like a lightgun game. Never did find the time for 6, it's on my PS3 backlog. Revelations was good though, more of a return to the series roots. Rev 2 also backlogged. So the question is why did I start RE7 last night instead of going in order... Gonna try it in VR mode too.

RE6 was ca ca poo poo doo doo. Avoid that one like the bubonic plague.

I just played RE7 for the first time earlier this year and absolutely loved it. Cool puzzles, memorable characters and fun scares. The only major con is that last part diminishes on multiple playthroughs though I feel like that can be said about a lot of survival horror games. Definitely pick that one up.

7 is great, 6 is avoidable, 7 doesn't even really reference the events of 6 except for a little bit at the end (and in some of the DLC).

I'd be the opposite on them. RE6 isn't great, but can still be enjoyable if you just want action. RE7 I ouldn't get into, I hate playing hide and seek in most horror games. The only one I liked that did that was Haunting Ground.

6 is the worst main line RE game. I say that and I don't really like the tank controls much. I couldn't get into the main game or the Mercenaries mode, and both were played coop.
