Current Events > Dark Souls: what are some spells I can get fairly early?

Doing a sorcerer with a scythe, first time Ive ever done something like that so Im a little lost. I have Soul Arrow, Greater Soul Arrow, and some spell that heals poison... I already went down to Blighttown with the master key and farmed for green titanite to make scythe Magic +5. Ill probably try to make that Enchanted for int scaling.

I ultimately wanna do dark magic but Im not sure how early thats doable since Ive heard thats only in AtoA. That DOES still scale with int, yes?

Also, Ive currently got 12 vit, 12 end, 25 int. What should I be targeting for an int heavy dark magic build?

you can find http://darksouls.wikidot.com/griggs-of-vinheim right after beating Taurus, you just need the Residence Key.

sorcery is pretty powerful in DkS. i did a run using only Sorcery (no melee at all) and it was one of the easiest i've had once i got to Vinheim

I haven't done a sorcerer build yet (this is my first run, but I do use pyromancies since they don't scale).

However, Power Within is in Blighttown under the huge parasite thing. It increases your damage by 40% and increases stamina regen while giving you a minor poison-like effect.

I've also noticed Great Combustion is really good for catching enemies off guard. Once you upgrade your Pyromancy Flame to +10, exit the area where you fought Quelaag and go straight forward to find Quelana. You'll be able to buy it from her for 5,000 souls.

Black Flame is dark-themed and really good, but it comes later.

If anything, Power Within is worth it for barely any investment.

I was just thinking this Im already in Darkroot Garden/Basin for the Enchanted Ember and titanite, could I just pop over to Oolacile and grab stuff? Am I gonna need to beat Artorias? Because that probably isnt happening at SL 30

Yeah you'll need to beat arty. It's doable if you're good at dodging. You'll just die in one hit probably.

Hmm.

Maybe Ill try Well see. Sounds intense, but then again I beat Manus exclusively by dodging last time I played.
