it was great. No doubt Cooper gets some kind of award, and very likely Gaga does too.

Music was very good. Presentation was very good. The characters felt geniune. I bought into Gaga's character really quickly.

Saw it today. The music was good because of the performance more than composition. Without Gaga, I don't know that the movie actually works. Gaga is more likely to be awarded than Cooper because she also held her own as an actress. And yeah, anyone who hasn't seen it but will, be prepared for the likely tears. I found the beats of the story predictable, but you'd have to be pretty cynical and/or cold hearted to not be touched.

yeah the story takes a lot of tropes, but it does a good job of at least modernizing a lot of them compared to a lot of music style stories

I agree with that, and I don't think tropes or predictability are strictly bad. I knew what trajectory both main characters were on and it still hit me emotionally.

Absolutely. That last scene is why I think Gaga has a better chance at acting awards than Cooper. She played it like it was absolutely real to her. Very powerful.

Just curious. I saw the Barbara Streisand one and it was an okay movie, but Kris Kristofferson kind of sucked. And I know Judy Garland did one a long ass time ago, but I didn't like it at all.
