Board 8 > Why is Sephiroth in the main bracket?

Can someone help me figure this out? Does it come down to nominations or something else?

There were eight spaces in the champion bracket and nine NNers, so someone had to be cut.

Makinga Legends bracket with 9 1 seeds would be difficult

One had to be sacrificed so might as well remove the one that's

* The weaker FF7 rep
* Has a higher possibility of losing to non- Noble9ers
* not in Smash Bros
* Make it so only one Noble9er a series is represented

Frankly I'm surprised SBAllen gave Seph such an easy run when there's so many hard hitters that could easily have at least made a match or beaten him 1 on 1 like Mega Man X, Luigi, Pikachu, etc.

Based on the logo revealed before nominations it would seem Sephy being fated to the main bracket was pre-destined.

One of the noble nine had to be in the main bracket for this format to work. Sephiroth is the only villain AND the only one who doubles up in the same game/series as another, so he seemed like a good choice. Aside from that most of us believe he has dropped significantly in strength and is potentially the weakest of the nine.

We only needed eight for the double elimination bracket and Sephiroth was the most obvious cut since Final Fantasy VII already has a more popular rep in Cloud. You can share this with anyone since it's not a big secret and I'm sure plenty of people figured it out on their own.
