Wow. Way to screw over all those people who bought your $1600 pc bundles for no particular reason. Just segment your already iffy base of games into one headset with zero games worth playing.

The good news is that big brother Facebook is going under for good.

Remember when Palmer sold the company and Facebook immediately used the fact that he was a Trump voter to blackmail him away?

Could be good but it wouldn't be an easy road. A truly wireless headset is a major future goal for VR. Doing that without the help of a PC/console though is difficult when weight, comfort, and power are a concern.

If they're doing mobile just to force people to use their shitty site on a phone, then yeah they should fail. It's too early to start doing stupid things with VR or they're hurt user confidence. At least being a PC device we should still find uses for it. Homebrew and all.

Facebook has been started to die for the past couple years. I'm surprised how long it held out. It'll nosedive pretty soon. Fewer and fewer people are using it, with virtually no users under the age of 22.

Seems unlikely given that its userbase is still growing -- and significantly so -- rather than shrinking. And while youths in the West are moving to other platforms, apparently it's a big thing with young people from other nations.

I'm not surprised, in the high end VR market they have some stiff competition and they just can't compete with Sony in the lower budget VR market. It was a matter of time until they got squeezed out, especially since Facebook isn't exactly a hardware company. I honestly think they would have done better never actually being bought by Facebook. If they insisted on getting bought? They should have aimed to sell to a hardware company.

You sure it's not just businesses using it for free advertising? I think FB has overstayed their welcome considering recent problems they've had guarding your data.

Makes sense considering most households dont even use desktops anymore
