I don't care enough to look him up. You could've provided a link or some info...

But generally if he served his time then yeah I'm ok with him being released.

He served his time, appears remorseful, and got a certification while in prison to try and make something out of himself. So yea, he should be released.

Can't have a proper justice system if you think everybody who commits a crime should just serve the rest of their lives in prison.

What possible argument is there for him not being released if he served his time?

This is the real problem.

If we assume that prison time doesn't rehabilitate, and that convicts will still be a clear and immediate threat upon release, we shouldn't be releasing them at all. Effectively, we might as well just kill them and be done with it.

If we believe that people can repent their actions and be better people after serving their debt to society, then we have to stop treating people like convicts after they get out of prison, and actually give them a chance to do better.

The way we do things now, it's basically the worst of both scenarios. We just let people out, then treat them like shit for the rest of their lives, and then wonder why they don't really see a point in trying to obey the law or play by the rules when the system is constantly fucking them over.

This is very true. And they do have some places that are doing better with that. The problem is that there's not enough.
