900 F
Atmospheric pressure on surface roughly the same as being on the bottom of the ocean
Rains Sulfuric acid
Atmosphere almost 100% carbon dioxide
Volcanoes everywhere
Clouds so thick, barely any light reaches the surface

Can't be any harder to live than Flint, Michigan

build a city out of blimps floating high in the clouds. might actually be more feasible then a mars base.

They couldn't land a probe there because of how thick the atmosphere is, so cloud cities aren't necessarily impossible.

and mining that hydrogen to start your fuel cells would take a stupid amount of startup energy, energy you'd have to pack and send with the rocket. we'd need a moon base with the infrastructure to produce fuel and a site to launch long distance rockets before we even tried it.

BTW floating cities in Venus are more doable than you'd think. You wouldn't need much, since the density of the atmosphere would allow you to swim in it.

Except for the sulfuric acid clouds.

We don't have the tech to be self sustinable, and figuring out how to deal with the Radiation along with how to block it is a real issue.

Not just for he people, but for he hardware as well.

Then there is the food, water, oxygen supply issue.

radiation is potentially very simple, build underground.

the other issues are important and being worked on. but we're much closer to those techs then we are to building large floating bases out of non existent super material.

What about Sustainable Food, Water, Electricity, etc.

It's never as simple as you make it out to be.

There's a reason why a whole host of people at NASA are there to help solve all the difficult problems.

I think the basic idea is to not have all our eggs in one basket. Something happens to Earth anytime soon, we're kinda fucked. Mars is also far but not that far, and close but not too close, so the temperature isn't insurmountable and we can actually get there. We could build there, too.

Personally, I want to know what's in the water and ice.

Not really. This is space. It's not like earth where you can build two cities 100 miles apart and they'll always be 100 miles apart. Shit moves around a lot. Sometimes Venus will be right next to us and Mars is on the opposite side of the sun.
