6 generations would make her 1/64 Native American, 10 would make her 1/1024 Native American. Either way not enough to qualify for all the stuff she took advantage of and certainly not enough to be labeled as a "person with color."

I mean I am 1/8 Mayan and around 8% African, but I think it would be absurd for me to go around calling myself a Native American or Black man...and she has like almost nothing. She is less Native than your average white American...that is one insult that is completely fair and isnt a slur but mocking someone who should be investigated for taking benefits when they are significantly less than one percent.

If you go far back enough in anyone's family tree, you eventually have roots everywhere. The criticism of Warren was based on her being clearly a caucasian person taking advantage of something meant to be for a minority group. I won't even get into the merits of scholarships that are only open for certain races, but you would think the left would have a backlash towards someone that would abuse the system like that.

Remember that episode of Family Guy where he found out he had some African blood going back 10 generations so he was all excited to act black? That's what this is like.

I'll give them this, at the very least: it has difficulty passing the sniff test. Why would she change her ethnicity to native american half a year after she had received tenure? As I said, I think this whole argument is a waste of time, but people don't do things for "no reason." There had to have been a reason for her to do it when she did, or otherwise she wouldn't have bothered in the first place.

The only thing the boston globe proved is that her ethnicity was not a factor in her being hired, which still leaves the question: why did she do it in the first place?

EDIT: For example, a quick google search shows that if you're a native american in MA you are eligible for a tuition waiver:

seems probable that the change was made on request of someone above her seeking PR candy, likely as a result of some personal conversations about her experiences growing up with family members who told her they were native american. globe article gave additional info on the subject about her personal reasons as well. certainly makes sense that someone would be more open about family history right after that family dies. i talked more about my dad at work after he died than before.

basically, irrelevant bullshit that does not belong in a political discussion, but is brought up because a lot of stupid white people are really mad that affirmative action exists and are looking for a scapegoat to take their impotent fury out on

In an interview with the Globe published last month, Warren explained that she identified herself as Native American in the late 1980s and early 1990s as many of the matriarchs of her family were dying and she began to feel that her family stories and history were becoming lost.
