The only game I care about achievements in is Europa Universalis IV(because it gives me fun directions to go in).
Still, it is a major oversight on Nintendo's part, I agree.

Most of them don't do that. It's shit like "beat the first boss" or "cleared the level" or "beat the game". Shit you'd get just by playing the game normally anyway.

I like achievements that encourage me to look for easter eggs or try new things, but barely anyone does that.

I collected every costume and moon in Super Mario Odyssey.

The reward should be getting to play more of the game. If the game is not fun and you are only doing it for a virtual trophy, well I guess I can't really relate to that.

Both of these for sure. I don't know why people still even question achievements and trophies, it just adds more options to extend gameplay and replayability with zero obligation.

If I really like a game, and beat it, and still want to play it more, I go look at the achievement list and start grinding til i'm bored. It's a cool reward system.

Also, on Xbox, once you reach certain tiers of gamerscore, you get a higher percentage of a rebate on everything you buy. I get 5% back on everything digital I purchase on Xbox, which usually adds up to $30 or so in credit each month which is basically a free full game every 2 months or so, or a bunch of indies or add-ons.

Yeah, I wish they would. They don't really add anything, but they can get me to try to play a game in a way I wouldn't have thought of, or help me feel like I'm "done" with a game where I'd normally be compelled to be far more completionist.

Ideally they'll implement a system of achievements where you actually unlock in-game content, or at least avoid/separate online/multiplayer achievements

A rare few games on 360, unlocking achievements gave you avatar items like masks and crap, I always thought that was pretty cool.

Like, Ninty fans have no creativity? Or they've just never played a game with good achievements.

They're not a big deal but they can be fun when done well (with ketchup).

Only the 3DS version of the game had it actually. The subsequent games didn't bother to put achievements. But I imagine compared to Xenoblade 1 where 100%ing is an actual realistic thing to do, I'd probably not wanna see what they come up with for the other games. Like max every Blade's affinity *shudder*
