So like, were they trying to go by series only?

Cause they listed Silent Hill but not Silent Hill 2 (which was way scarier), but they listed Fatal Frame 2 and not the first Fatal Frame.

So did they just legit snub Silent Hill 2 completely?

I love Silent Hill 2 and the entire series, but 2 is one of the least scary along with Shattered Memories.

IMO 3 is the scariest, but 1 isn't a bad pick.

Good question. Not sure. I think it's like you said they wanted to cover every series, but why they didn't mentionion SH2 over 1 and vice versa on Fatal Frame I'm not sure.

I love Silent Hill 2 and the entire series, but 2 is one of the least scary along with Shattered Memories.

IMO 3 is the scariest, but 1 isn't a bad pick.

I haven't played 3 yet so I can't speak on it, but I've played 1, 2, Homecoming, and Downpour, and 2 was by far the scariest dude.

Had by far the best horror atmosphere and psychological horror elements, and Pyramid Head is a scary fucker.

It's definitely pretty scary on a first time playthrough, I just think after you play them all and look back on it, it doesn't have much going for it in the scare department. It has some of the weakest enemy variety on the series along with them being amongst the least threatening. Combine with some of highest ammo count in the series and you you've got yourself a RE2 situation: a good game, but not a particularly scary horror game (as much as RE can be scary, anyway)

It's mostly the story that sends it over the top for most people. And it is definitely the best. But towards the back imo when it comes to pure horror.

I feel the same about Fatal Frame 2. Fantastic game, but imo not as scary as 1 and 3

I guess that's fair. I'd still argue its use of atmospheric horror is some of the best in the series, and for me that's my preferred type of horror. It kinda just comes down to what gives you those scares, I suppose.

You can just hover the mouse icon over the pics in the film strip beneath and the name of the game will pop up. You don't have to click every pic.

In my opinion first game is the least scary / have the weakest story. 2 and 3 is on par, both are fantastic games

I do think FF2 is scarier than 1, but it's a toss up. I like both.

Resident Evil 4 deserves a spot just for the Regenerator sequence tbh, the first 2 Regenerators you fight in that game are absolutely fucking terrifying.

It was good. I'm sure there's a let's play of it or something. I was young but I remember actually being scared. It had multiple endings based on how you went about the game and stuff.

Yeah man. Bought that and The Thing on release. The Suffering was a cool concept and had plenty of scary moments because you didn't know if they were legit or all in your head. It was a great mind fuck.

The Suffering is actually a really solid third person shooter, during a time when third person shooters weren't quite as slick as they are now (this was pre-RE4). It's not that scary, but it has absolutely wonderful enemy designs.

Yeah, IIRC, they were all based on different forms of how prisoners were executed during the prisons history and whatnot. Definitely a great concept.

Surprised they went with System Shock 2 over BioShock, but I'm not complaining. It's the right choice for me.
