You haven't met the guy because "He's on the road a lot." when one day he's going to come over to pick her up. "Oh here he is daddy, you're gonna get on great, I just don't know it." your daughter says. Then to your surprise you see white truck pull up and a hefty bald tattooed 46 year old trucker come out holding a dog. He comes up to the door, your daughter answers it, they embrace, she heads to the truck and in a thick southern accent he says "Don't cha warry now ser, I'm gonna treat ur girl real good." I'd want to get to know him better. What does his age have to do with it? Does he have kids or was divorced in a nasty court battle or something? The only semblance his age could possibly have is he has extra baggage that he would be putting on my hypothetical daughter. If he has no sketchy history, is nice and actually does treat her well and with respect, I don't see the problem.
