Well, what are you aiming for?

Do you see yourself more working in an office somewhere or sitting in the situation room with the President to plan the invasion of Australia?

She once came home covered in blood driving a stolen semi trailer. It was filled to the brim with severed human heads. She just nonchalantly told me that she was bored with the Hells Angels and decided to kill them all.

I went to the police and they immediately sent me to a psychiatric hospital. Spent two years there.

Never heard from the girl again.

I got the tf out as soon as my 8 years was up. Its dumb to stay in. The longer you stay, its gonna get harder once you go back to the real word. A lot easier to still go to college and stuff in your early and mid twenties. Then go to the army for 15 years where you dont even qualify for retirement pensions and you're like 40 years old with no life experience outside the military. I see that a lot

The new retirement system is supposed to fix this. in the old system, you got nothing. under the new system, the more time and money you put in, the more you get out.

You've already done 5 years. Just do the 15 and get your pension. It goes by quick. I don't understand some of these guys I've met that did 12 years and got. Every single one of them later said "Yeah, I should have stayed in." But whatever you do good luck. At least your schooling will be paid for should you choose to go.

Eh. No way I'd want to do another 10 years of standing around waiting, random inspections and being treated like a child. Needing approval to go anywhere, rarely ever any vacation, formations, random garbage pt. Fuck that

Used my military resume and got a police job. All the good of the military without the garbage. Plus double the pay

What are people's jobs even after 12-15 years in the military, I don't imagine there are much for infantry people who have been around that long

Doesn't really matter what MOS you are, opportunites remain the same. When you stay in, you eventually fill the roles of leadin the platoon, the company, the battalion etc. Not to mention mandatory recruiting, drill instructor or embassy duty for at least one 4 year term iirc.

Have you considered any of the 35 series? 35L and 35P are pretty cool (especially since the other branches don't necessarily have a 35L equivalent).

Is that a Marine thing?

I've never heard of any branch making it *mandatory*. It used to be something they just randomly billeted people for in the Army but it was still not a required tour, it was just one of those "needs of the Army" things.

Yea, unless things have changed since ive been out, you had to have one tour in either recruiting, drill or embassy by a certain enlistment point. Some people could slip thru the cracks probably, like if you had a high priority MOS or something. But it was mandatory for our careerists.
