Why not? I'm sure you believe other things that are less plausible. Or maybe you don't. I don't know you.

Have you ever cut something with your left hand? Maybe it's worth getting a pair. I don't know yet because I haven't had anything to use them on yet.

I'm weird and inconsistent. I call myself a lefty because my left hand is less shaky and has more control which often causes me to default to it.

Some activities I do with whichever is closest. Others things favor one hand or the other. But more commonly, I'll default to doing something left handed. I write with my left. I played guitar with my right. I throw with my right. I use mobile devices with whatever hand picked it up until that hand gets tired. I eat with my left. And I switch a lot when doing me stuff.

Why? The actual design of them makes it more difficult to cut with scissors that aren't made for that hand? Just holding something normally, your thumb instinctually pulls inwards. With a left hand using right-handed scissors, it pulls the blades apart so that paper can just slip right between them.

Press with your index finger, pull with your thumb and have the thumb loop press in to your knuckle, viola it's held together securely! Also, when you have a choice of 10 red safety scissors, or 1 or 2 green and yellow scissors, it's more tempting to choose the more ubiquitous, better looking pair.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. It's just an example that I brought up because I felt it was kind of funny though. And also because I just can't think of many activities off the top of my head that requires only one hand.

I can't seem to quite figure out what you mean. Every position I try using your description, things just don't line up right and it feels uncomfortable.

I eat and drink almost exclusively left-handed for some reason, especially so when alcohol is involved.
Yet, I cook right-handed. I dunno.

"right" is subjective, I grew up handling right handed scissors in my left so that feels natural to me.

I normally drink with my right. I alternate when cooking. Left hand normally stirs and right hand normally picks things out of the oven though.

Yeah, I suppose that's true. I still can't seem to get things to line up in any way resembling "right" though. If the thumb loop is against my knuckle, my I can't get my index on anything.

I am supposedly lefty, and I possess a wonderful hand writing in the left hand, and a terrible one in the right.

....... and then, most other tasks I pull with the right as default. Not even sure what's the deal with that.

I can wrap it around, but if I'm pushing on it like that, it's pushing the blades apart. If I'm not wrapping it around, it's just sticking straight out. (That's a pair of righty scissors by the way.)

Could be that you're left-handed, but no one realized and just taught you to do everything right-handed. Maybe? I don't know.

Could be that they're new or unused enough that the blades still press against each other naturally. I can use a new pair of righty scissors with my left hand, but an old pair and not thick enough material and it just ends up bending between the blades.

You know this actually might be it. I remember Mother telling me that they tried to put the coloring pen in my right hand when I was young, but they just let nature take its course.

Then it was that most things I had to handle are designed for right hand, like mechanical saws having their handle on the right side, and scissors of course among other tools. I found that very easy to handle, despite never shedding off left hand writing.

You might be onto something.
