that's why you poop on company time

You can get pissy about menial workers or retail-level employees who aren't well off asking for better pay and more comfortable conditions, but at the end of the day you've got a boss making a comfortable living while their employees are working down to the wire to stay afloat. You have a guy like Jim Bezos who could pay each of the hundreds of thousands of Amazon warehouse employees a one hundred dollar bonus from his personal wealth, and it wouldn't even be 1% of the money that he owns - not only that, but he has measures in place that actively tracks bathroom times and minutes not spent working, and docks workers for it. Like shit, you've never taken a 5 minute breather at your job? Imagine being docked down to the minute because your hands hurt and you needed a second.

At least he's raising the minimum wage of his warehouses, but it comes at the cost of benefits for the workers and it's a move that's only come about because of a law that would tax the shit out of Amazon for not complying. Before that, he didn't give a rat's ass - now his hand has been forced, and he gets to save face and get some positive publicity out of it.

Menial workers and employees at the bottom of the corporate ladder grease the wheels that keep our society moving. Without the work of warehouse packers, fruit-pickers, wait/counter staff, truck drivers, retail employees etc., life as we know it wouldn't exist. And shitty deals affect people higher up on the corporate ladder as well. It's this hostility towards people asking for more that keep bosses happy - you see yourself making do, and the actions of underpaid workers barely scraping by gets under your skin because you've made it to a workable position so why can't they. Meanwhile, their bosses profit from the corners they cut and go home with a fat paycheck. Your bosses make calls that keep your pay packet a bit more lean than it could be, while theirs gets just a little bit fatter. Getting paid less for the value of your work is a universal concept, and being mad at others asking for more keeps you in your lane while your boss and the CEOs of the world keep raking in easy money. As a worker, the fight for better conditions and more reasonable pay should be your fight as well. The well-being of other workers goes towards your own well-being at your job.

That's not to suggest that the entirety of a business' earnings go straight to the top, of course business costs are a thing, but you're still seeing bosses making six or seven figures a year and living in excess while the employees that staff their corporation vary between renting a workable living space and doing decently and living out of an overpriced hole in the wall.

Support worker's rights, because they're your rights too.

Not reading all of that mess (poop on company time? You seem like a winner...), but my theory has always been if you don't own the business, your job is to make the owner money.

I'm compensated quite well for my time, idgaf how much more the company makes off of my production. That's how business works.
