As long as you don't put syrup on it, but at that point you are just left with eggy bread so what is the point?

Because the egg batter should be more than just egg. Also use actual maple syrup instead of maple-flavored corn syrup for best results.

It can be, but egg+milk+salt is a perfectly serviceable batter. Even when I decide to get fancy, it's usually just with a splash of vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon and/or nutmeg, nothing that would be nutritionally significant. Syrup goes on after cooking, and then there's enough of it to matter.

Also, french toasting a peanut butter and banana sandwich (ideally with chocolate chips) is great, if a little awkward and potentially messy. Dress it up with some whipped cream, maple, and chocolate syrup, and you've got yourself a quality brunch. Alternatively, Nutella instead of peanut butter (in which case you can omit the chocolate chips).

Even in small amounts, those drastically change the flavor profile, so it isn't just "eggy" bread. That's the great thing about the nutritional value of spices, you don't need a lot to benefit from them.

Your response made it sound like you were saying that it was wrong to treat it as eggy bread for nutritional purposes, not commenting on the flavour.

By definition, starch isn't a simple carb. Dump a bunch of syrup on there and you get your simple carbs in, but bread is very much made up of complex carbs.

Starch is a complex carb, sure, but that doesn't mean much. Many starches have high glycemic indexes and are quickly digested.

The word "organic" is often a buzzword these days, and it's more relevant to farming practices' effects on the environment than anything else. This is the sort of reasoning behind why so many soccer moms who shop at Whole's Foods are kind of fat- they just eat sugar dressed up as something "natural"

Something being organic has nothing to do with its nutritional content and this misconception is why a lot of hippie vegans and vegetarians are actually fat.

It's bread so...depend on the quality of the bread. Butter isn't healthy, syrup is sugar so it's not healthy either and eating too much bread will make you fat. Try not go over 2 slice of toasted bread.

What I said wasn't untrue. You're only focused on the bread (the starch) here, whereas the simple carbs I alluded to in my first post referred to the sugar that accompanies this dessert. And make no mistake, it's pretty much the sugar that makes people want this food.
