Current Events > CE, I need a way to explain a swollen eye during a job interview.

My friend was being abused. I confronted the abuser. It got physical. He got a good hit in on my eye during the exchange and its noticeably swollen.

What can I say during my interview today that doesnt sound like BS? Cant say I was fighting obviously lol

Wear a white bandage over your eye, and only talk about it if you're asked about it. Tell them you woke up with a swollen eye, or something like that. It's true, just not the whole story. Don't say you have a medical condition, because you will not know what to say about it. If you can think of a better way to justify it, say that.
Apart from that, just look presentable.

Just say it was a sports accident? I caught an accidental black eye a few weeks back playing basketball.

Yeah I think as long as you aren't the one who started throwing punches, getting sucker punched in the eye by someone you're confronting on behalf of another is nothing to be ashamed of.

Justified or not, drama is drama and employers don't want any of that in their workplace.

They actually didnt even ask about it and the interview went really, really well. Fairly certain I got the job.

the 3 or 4 black eyes ive had in my life ive explained as "catching a stray elbow in a pick up game" (of basketball).

it was true for my first black eye and I just used it for the other times.
