PS: Absolutely nothing bad happened. No one was hit and my car was fine.

I bet some people wish I died.

Oh, I thought it had something to do with the situation.

Anyways, what caused the car to spin out? Was there an obstacle or a blowout?

No normal person would wish death on anyone like that

Attempting to merge with someone in my blindspot and recovering too sharply.

I think I need my brakes examined.

Was it wet or something? I can't see you going into a full spin on a dry road

Well, I did.

Not sure what happened. I've swung my car around before at high speeds but today physics decided not to play ball.

what kind of car? if it was RWD and you overcorrected I could see that, even on a dry road

I thought it was an FWD car when I bought it but, honestly, I never looked to see if that's true.

It doesn't feel like a car that oversteers, though, so I don't think it is.

If you don't fucking know if your car is front or rear wheel drive you shouldn't be driving it.

I don't hate you or anything man but that's fucking stupid

FWD, unless it's a Ralliart or Evo

a significant difference in terms of handling characteristics. RWD and rear-biased AWD is more likely to oversteer and potentially have the tail kick out

though it doesn't take much to spin at 75mph regardless of drivetrain layout

what difference does it make?

It determines where the power to the wheels comes from.

FWD the power is on the front. Its best for casual city driving because the back end gets pulled along by the front. Since there's no power at the rear, the lightest part of the vehicle can't change the handling characteristics.

RWD is when its on the back. Race vehicles are typically RWD, as are some labor-market vehicles (like large pickups). It typically results in oversteer because the rear wheels are what push the car around the turn, meaning all the momentum comes from behind the motor.

AWD is where power goes to all the wheels at once. Offroad vehicles are equipped with AWD. You usually get understeer with AWD because acceleration is happening at every wheel all at once, meaning as you turn your car keeps wanting to go forward.

My first vehicle was an 89 s10. It had an extended bed and sweet flood lightd and even a sun roof!

My first time driving back from college. It was around a 3 and half hour drive home. It was early october and on a really twisty country road.

It was raining reallt hard. I thoughy I hyrdoplained once and recovered. Around a mile later, going down a bend on a hillside, my truck starts fishtailing.

I lay off the gas and breaks and start counter steering. Evertime i centered, it would slide out again. Bank to the right was slight drop off into the woods. Left was a guard rail with a drop into a steep hill down into a creek bottom.

I lost enough speed and I commited to the woods, but my truck ended up completely sideways across both lanes of traffic. Thankfully, nothing was coming and I got the truck straight and into a nearby driveway.

The rear driver side tire had blown out. My only spinout and it was horrifying even though I was going 40 or so at the time.
