Really good, but just...odd. Like, I just finished a chapter that made almost zero sense (it wasn't supposed to from the context of the conversation in it, most likely alluding to mental illness), but damn, it's kind of a beautiful mess.

I also understand it's 4 different narratives woven together, but the shift between them is pretty jarring.

That's one of those novels that I have to read one day but it's pretty fuckin intimidating lol. For now I'm just reading The Brothers Karamazov again. Maybe after I finish I'll try and tackle that behemoth.

what would you say is the genre of this book? Kind of experimental, kind of comedic. Hard to classify really. --- Www.deviantart.com/goggalor1990 Reading: Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's getting easier to follow the narrative shifts now that I'm about 50 pages in though. So far it's really, really good. --- Www.deviantart.com/goggalor1990 Reading: Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's difficult for sure, but it gets easier as you start to understand the characters better.
I remember reading through the Eschaton game part and just being blown away by how sharp and amusing it was. That's a book I wish I could read again for the first time. --- Does the name Pavlov ring a bell? ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah I thought he was just a cheap imitation of Pynchon (try reading *that* guy's shit sometimes, holy shit) but then the more I got into it the more I realized it was a legitimately genuine piece of art.
I loved the description of the NA meetings and their addiction to cigarettes >_>. It's so simple but so telling. --- FFXIV: Herzog Erislieb (Cactaur) | ESO: @Ultima_Vyse RS3: UltimaSuende . 99 WC/99 FISH/99 Cook ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah, the guy talking about quitting weed 80 times reminded me a lot of my younger self tbh.
